Through the Eyes of Time

Once upon time, besieged within the chilled heart of Finland, a modest but charming village resided named Yli-Kirra. Governed by a wise, old Mayor named Ilari, Yli-Kirra was renowned for its antiquated clock tower, a symbol of time that stood tall and proud against the white backdrop. This clock, although seemed regular and unadorned, had a feat no other clock did; it had the ability to travel through time.
The tower wasn't always a mystery; it was the sudden disappearance of Matias, a dappled white horse, that brought the clock tower into prominence. Witness claimed that it waned right in front of their eyes after clicking 12 in the midnight. Then came Elsa's story - Elsa, the village seamstress, was devastated when her husband Samuel left for war, never to return. One winter evening, when the clock tower struck 12, her husband was suddenly standing by her side, as young and as alive as he had been before he had left. Astonished and elated Elsa ran across the village revealing about the miracles of the clock tower. The village was filled with joy and wonder regarding their clock tower's newly discovered peculiarity.
One day, a sceptic scientist named Erik Nordström arrived from the city, challenging the beliefs of Yli-Kirra. He was not one to believe in magic and parallel dimensions, with an ambition to disprove the claims about the tower, he decided to investigate, ignoring the possibilities.
During his investigation, Erik would return to the tower every night when the clock struck midnight, observing it closely. Nothing ever happened, reinforcing his theory that it was all elaborate superstition. However, he had not noticed minor changes like his pen disappearing then reappearing and the alterations in the map of Yli-Kirra. He dismissed this as his mind playing tricks on him.
One frosty winter night, while scrutinising the clock, Erik decided he was wasting his time on an old wives' tale. Just as he was about to leave, the clock struck twelve. Before Erik could register what was happening, he found himself engulfed by a mysterious aura, whirling him away into oblivion.
When he regained his consciousness, he found himself standing in Yli-Kirra as he knew, however, something was amiss. The cobblestone streets he previously walked upon were unpaved and wooden cabins replaced stone houses. He noticed villagers wearing clothes that seemed to belong to another era. All around him, it was Yli-Kirra, but the villagers called it Kuura.
It was then Erik realised the true power of the clock tower. He was in the same village, but it wasn't by the name of Yli-Kirra but Kuura, situated a hundred years in the past. The magic the villagers spoken of was true, and Erik was taken aback with bewilderment and newfound respect for the tower.
During his time in the past, Erik had a chance to meet young Ilari. He told Ilari about the stories from future and how the tower would be valued as a mystical site. Young Ilari, fascinated by Erik’s tales and his knowledge, was more than thrilled to carry forward this reverence for the tower in his reign.
As suddenly as Erik had arrived in the past, he found himself whirling back to the present when he woke up next to the clock tower with the sun shining brightly in the sky. The same old Yli-Kirra welcomed him with the cobbled streets and stone houses, giving him the assurance of being back in his home time.
After this baffling encounter, Erik developed a deep reverence and respect for the clock tower and its magical potential. He withdrew all his scepticism and began studying the tower, not to dispel the myth, but to understand the enchanting reality. As for the villagers, they continued to cherish their timeless gem, a beacon of magic in their everyday life.
The clock tower of Yli-Kirra remained, in reality, a time capsule. One that blended age-old folkloric beliefs with the science of time traveling, cementing the belief that sometimes, there's more to reality than meets the eye.
