The Wisdom of The Wise King
Once upon a time, there existed a kingdom steeped in harmony, known as Mavros. It rested in the heart of a lush valley, bracketed by tall protective mountains. Mavros was contented, and its prosperity was legendary across continents. The kingdom was ruled by a wise and just monarch, King Adler. He was renowned for his intelligence, bravery and, above all, his compassion.
The citadel of Mavros was magnificent, with domes and spires reaching out to touch the sky, resembling a kingdom straight out of a fairy tale. Populated with bustling markets, running rivers, and green parks, life in Mavros buzzed with vivacity. At the epicenter of the kingdom stood the royal castle. Raised to a towering height, it was akin to a watchful guardian, always vigilant, always protecting.
However, peace was not destined to last. The tranquility of Mavros was threatened when the acrimonious King Corbin from the neighboring realm announced his intent to conquer Mavros. King Corbin, consumed by avarice and lust for power, was notorious for his cruelty in the entire realm. The announcement sent ripples of fear through the otherwise placid life in Mavros.
King Adler assembled his council, and they decided to meet King Corbin's threat head-on rather than living under the constant dread of war. King Adler, being a lover of peace, convened a personal audience with King Corbin to negotiate possible peace treaties.
The day of the meeting, King Adler rode alone to the intimidating, foreboding Citadel of the malicious King. King Corbin, with a devilish grin, announced that he would withdraw his plans of invasion if King Adler could answer a riddle. The riddle was, 'What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps?' King Adler pondered and replied with a confident tone, 'The answer is a river.'
Stunned and defeated, King Corbin had no choice but to respect the terms set before and hence, retracted his threats. King Adler returned victorious, but instead of celebrating, he used this instance as an opportunity to educate his people about the importance of wisdom over strength.
Years later, the fearful encounter became a popular tale whispered at night and a story recited to young by the elders of Mavros. King Adler’s wisdom was immortalized in songs, and his name became synonymous with knowledge and bravery across the realm. The kingdom of Mavros continued to prosper, grow, and live harmoniously.
Through ages, the tale of King Adler’s wisdom continued to inspire citizens to opt for peace and wisdom above all. The kingdom’s opulence was cherished but what remained the proudest possession was the legacy of King Adler’s wisdom.
