The Wisdom of a Child
In a quiet, serene village lived a wise man named Arjun. He was renowned across the land for his profound knowledge and his ability to solve the most intricate problems. People from far and wide visited him, seeking counsel and solutions to their dilemmas. Arjun was infinitely patient, always willing to lend an ear and offer counsel.
One day, an eccentric scholar named Dev decided to challenge Arjun’s wisdom. He traveled to the village and announced, 'If Arjun can successfully solve my riddle, then I will accept him as the wisest man. If he fails, he must renounce his title.' Dev was powerful and influential, so his declaration drew the attention of many curious villagers and even the neighboring lands.
The day of the challenge was set, and villagers awaited eagerly. On the appointed day, the village square was packed with spectators. Dev, with pompous air, walked into the square and announced his riddle: 'What is something that you can give away freely, but can never take back?'
Arjun was silent. While it seemed like a simple riddle, he knew better than to rush his answer. He contemplated on it for a while but couldn't arrive at an answer that convinced him. Hours passed, adding to the anxiety of the crowd.
Meanwhile, in the crowd, there was a young girl named Kavya who was listening attentively. Kavya was just a ten-year-old, the daughter of a humble farmer. She loved hearing Arjun's wisdom and looked up to him as her hero. Seeing Arjun in a bewildered state worried her. Suddenly, an answer dawned upon her. Hesitant, she decided to brave up and approached Arjun.
Kavya, with fear in her heart but confidence in her eyes, whispered her answer in Arjun’s ear. After listening to her, he broke into a smile. With a deep sense of gratitude, he called upon the scholar and announced, 'The answer to your riddle, Dev, is one's word. You can give it freely, but once given, you cannot take it back.'
The crowd erupted in cheer. The scholar Dev, though shocked, accepted his defeat and left the village. Arjun, with humility and grace, announced to the crowd, 'Today, the wisdom of a child has taught us a valuable lesson. In our journey of knowledge, we must remember that wisdom doesn’t discriminate on the basis of age or status.'
With that, Arjun invited Kavya onto the stage and proudly declared her the 'Child Wisdom Bearer' of the village. The villagers celebrated Kavya's wit, and from that day forward, the tale of Kavya’s wisdom graced every household, reminding everyone that wisdom is a virtue that can shine from the most unexpected places.
