The Watchers of the Hidden Light

Once upon a time, in the mysterious town of Eclipsa, located in the heart of a sprawling forest, lived a young girl named Adalyn. Eclipsa was something of an oddity as it was bathed in darkness for the most part of the year except during a fortnight when the full moon would shower the town with an ethereal light.
Although shrouded in perpetual darkness, Eclipsa was anything but gloomy. Its residents were people with joyous hearts and resilient spirits, having adapted to their unusual surroundings. Their homes were illuminated by brilliant lanterns and their streets by bright lamplights, giving the town an enchanting feel.
Adalyn, a curious and adventurous child, was infatuated with the fortnightly period of illumination. She routinely ventured into the forest, to a clearing where the moonlight hit the hardest, basking in the light and cherishing the warmth that was rare in her town. Her fascination earned her a reputation and she soon was known as the Lunar Enchantress.
One strange night, while others were sleeping, Adalyn noticed a peculiar phenomenon. The moonlight, usually radiant and soothing, had taken a strange hue. In the heart of the forest, where she stood, the light revealed a hidden path, one she had never seen before. Intrigued, Adalyn decided to follow the path.
The path led her deeper into the forest, where the trees grew larger and older. The further she walked, the more intense the light grew, revealing more of the path until finally, she arrived at a glen, in the centre of which stood a massive, ancient tree. The tree glowed with an intermittent illumination, as if guarding something within. As she moved closer, she noticed the tree held a hidden portal. Adalyn, armed with her spirit of adventure, decided to step inside the portal.
As soon as she entered, she found herself in a vastly different realm. The new world was imbued with a charm of its own, dominated by luminescent flora and fauna. In the middle of it all, she saw another tree similar to the one in her world but glowing brighter. Surrounding the tree were entities, humanoid but composed entirely of harmonious light - the Watchers of the Hidden Light.
The Watchers were surprised but welcoming. They explained to Adalyn that their duty was to control how the moonlight permeated her world. However, a malignant darkness had been slowly influencing the balance, causing the shift in the moonlight's colour that Adalyn had observed.
They also shared that the tree in the human world is a doppelganger of theirs and needed to be guarded against the encroaching darkness. They cannot venture into the human realm and hence needed someone from there to become a guardian.
Adalyn, brimming with courage, volunteered. They imbued her with a piece of their light, giving her the ability to ward off the impending darkness. With newfound resolve, she thanked the Watchers and returned to her world.
As she emerged, the malevolent darkness was already looming. With the power gifted to her by the Watchers, she fought back. The intensity of the battle caused the tree glow brighter than ever before, illuminating the whole town for the very first time. The battle ended with Adalyn successfully restoring the balance of light, and the town was brighter than ever before.
Her bravery became the stuff of legends. Eclipsa was no longer a town of darkness but a beacon of hope, glowing incessantly under the watchful eyes of Adalyn, the Lunar Guardian, and the Watchers of the Hidden Light.
