The Violet Eyed Queen
In a remote village of Staines, nestled between lush meadows and a brooding forest, there lived a young, humble lady named Clarisse. Clarisse was no ordinary village maiden. Born with mysterious, glowing violet eyes, she had been bestowed with a unique ability at birth, her gaze had the power to heal the wounded and mend broken spirits. The villagers, although initially terrified, soon revered her and called her the 'Violet Eyed Healer'.
Clarisse, although bestowed with a gift, strove to live an ordinary life. Her days were spent tending to the villagers' ailments and her free time was usually spent learning the art of medicine from an elderly sage. Her life was as ordinary as it could be for someone with a supernatural ability. Until one day, chaos descended upon Staines—the peaceful villagers were visited by the King's troops.
The King's youngest son, Prince Albert, was struck by an unknown malady. His body covered in scales, his eyesight blurred, and his strength was seeping away every moment. All the wise men and doctors in the kingdom were unable to diagnose, let alone cure him. In desperation, the King turned towards myths and tales of mystics, leading him to the Violet Eyed Healer of Staines.
His arrival rattled the usually peaceful village. Clarisse, naturally shy, was intimidated. Yet, she knew she had a duty to perform. Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward and looked into the prince's pain-filled eyes, her violet eyes glowing with the intensity of her will.
Time seemed to stand still as the villagers watched breathlessly. Soon, under her gaze, the Prince's scales vanished, his eyes regained their focus, and he seemed to get his strength back. The villagers gasped in awe at the miracle they just witnessed.
Overjoyed, Prince Albert wanted to take Clarisse with him as his personal healer. However, Clarisse refused, expressing her desire to continue her life helping her fellow villagers. Amused by her humility and charmed by her beauty and kindness, the Prince respected her wish. Nevertheless, before leaving, he proposed a marriage to which Clarisse nodded in agreement.
Thenceforth, their married life was blissful. The prince was a kind-hearted man and respected her wishes. Although they lived in the luxurious royal palace, Clarisse was welcomed home every fortnight to visit her fellow villagers and heal the needy. In time, the city folks, like the villagers, started calling her the 'Violet Eyed Queen'.
Years later, when the prince ascended the throne as King Albert, he abolished the medieval practice of burning alleged witches and launched new laws protecting women from the idiosyncrasies of superstitious belief. The kingdom of Staines lived in peace and prosperity under their just and wise rule, and the tale of the 'Violet Eyed Queen' became one of the most told folktales of the Kingdom, symbolizing kindness, humility, and the power of a good heart.
