The Two Worlds Mirror
Once upon a time, in a small remote hilltop town named Oldenfield, resided a young curious boy named Robin. He was always fascinated with the mysteries of the uncharted, paranormal events, and mythical creatures. The thing that fascinated him the most was an aged, mysteriously fascinating mirror present in his parent’s room. Unlike the usual mirrors, it reflected nothing but a mesmerizing ever-changing landscape of unseen worlds.
On a winter’s night, when the snow softly fell on the roof of the houses and the whole town was preparing to take a rest, Robin tiptoed into his parents' room. The interesting thing was that on that magical night, the mirror appeared more intriguing than ever. The captivating sceneries of the unknown realms in the mirror were dancing with wild, untamed colors.
Robin walked towards the mirror, staring at his reflection flanked by fantastic landscapes that seemed to call to him. Swallowing his fear, he stretched his hand out and just as his finger touched the glass, a magical force pulled him, and he plunged into the unseen realm displayed within his parents’ magical mirror. The scenery around him was breathtaking, he was in another dimension, the landscape was full of strange creatures, plants gleaming in the starlight, flowing rivers radiating with luminescent sheen, and peculiar looking mountains sculpted by unseen forces. The air was filled with a sweet aroma, the breeze was cold yet comforting, and the splendor around him was beyond any mortal’s fantasy.
As time passed, Robin was entranced by the beauty and freedom of this new realm, and he couldn’t help but immerse himself into this enticing adventure. He encountered gentle, elvish creatures, their aura radiating with magnificence, who took him to their village, he was bestowed with otherworldly fruits, and he rejoiced exciting games with the young elven folk.
While he enjoyed the idyllic life, months turned into years, and what seemed like an eternal vacation soured as he missed his home, his parents, and the familiar life in Oldenfield. He longed to return back but was unsure of how to. He turned to the elvish elders who presented him with a quest. Only by achieving this, could he break the spell and journey back home. The task was to climb the Phoenix Mountain, home to a fiery beast, and retrieve a golden feather.
Determined to go back to his world, Robin braved the treacherous journey to the top. Encountering numerous magical challenges and defeating omnipotent beings with his wits and courage, he managed to gather a golden feather and presented it to the Elven King.
True to their word, they started their ancient ritual. One by one, every villager placed their hand on the golden feather and started chanting in the old elvish language. As the ritual winded up, a grand mirror appeared out of thin air, exactly identical to the one at Robin's home. The standstill water of the mirror began swirling, and a vision of Robin’s room appeared. Without losing a beat, despite the tearful farewells, Robin jumped back into his own world.
To his surprise, he found he had not aged a single day, and the town of Oldenfield was exactly as he left it. With a sigh, he realized it was not years but mere minutes that he spent in the other world, as time flowed differently there. His heart filled with joy and his mind with incredible tales, he finally went to sleep, exhausted but content.
The tale of Robin and the mirror world went on to become a legend in Oldenfield. His adventures, his bravery, and his longing for home were passed on to generations, teaching them valuable lessons about exploring curiosities, courage, adventurism, and love for home.
He would observe the mirror every now and then, which still shimmered with pictures of the other world. Robin smiled wistfully. He had learned the greatest lesson - that home, no matter how ordinary, held its own magic, and that was the most magical world of all.
