The Time Weaver

Once upon a time, nestled in a bustling city choked by grey buildings and mechanical routine, lay hidden a quaint corner bookstore. Amidst the hustle, the hidden bookstore cradled stories spanning entire galaxies - stories of love, courage, and heartbreak. Among them, was a peculiar storybook named 'The Time Weaver'.
The protagonist of our tale was an ordinary boy, Kael. But, Kael possessed an extraordinary gift. Whenever he closed his eyes and visualized a past or future event, he could travel in time. Kael was a Time Weaver.
Kael was raised by his grandmother, Iris. Iris was the only one who knew of Kael's gift. She had cautioned him, 'Granules of time are sacred, never to be meddled with unwisely, dear boy, for the tapestry of time holds consequences.'
One beautiful day in spring, Kael met a woman of unmatched brilliance and beauty, Alia. Her eyes were the colour of blooming lavender, her laughter more beautiful than the melody of a thousand larks. Over time, love bloomed between the two, as naturally as a flower towards the sun.
However, Alia was suffering from a terminal illness. Losing her meant losing a part of his beating heart—a doom Kael was not willing to accept. So, he resolved to defy his grandmother's warning and alter time to prevent Alia's death.
With a persistent idea and a heavy heart, Kael closed his eyes and projected himself into the future. He witnessed Alia's deteriorating health and the despair that followed. Travelling further, he found the cause - a disease yet unknown to present medical science but would find a cure years later. Filled with hope, Kael traced the fluents of time back to present, bringing the information of the cure.
In the present, Kael relayed the formula to Iris, who was a retired chemist. The next few weeks saw the ageing woman holed up in her dilapidated laboratory, synthesizing the cure to save her grandson's love.
After trials and failures, the cure was finally ready. Iris handed the vial to Kael, her old eyes filled with resignation and apprehension. Alia was administered the cure, and though she suffered through a harsh night, by dawn, a miracle unfurled - Alia was getting better. A tidal wave of relief washed over Kael – he had altered the future and saved his love.
A few months passed in absolute joy for Kael and Alia - they basked in love and life that had been granted to Alia. However, this happiness didn't last long. Alia started experiencing unforeseen repercussions of the untimely medication. Her body weakened, and her once vibrant eyes lost their sparkle.
Kael was puzzled. He had navigated the fluents of time and brought back a specific cure, then what went wrong? In his desperation, he travelled back to the future he had initially visited. He was horrified at what he saw. Where Alia was supposed to be healthy and alive, now only her grave lay, silent, cold.
Tears streamed down Kael's face as he returned to the present. His actions, meant to save Alia had expedited her death. This was the consequence of meddling with the sacred granules of time his grandmother had warned him about.
Grief-stricken, Kael confessed everything to Alia. She smiled weakly at him, holding his hands, she whispered, 'Kael, you cannot weave time to your liking. It flows, everlasting and unyielding. But know this, I will rest gladly, harboring our love in my heart.'
Days later, Alia passed away. Kael learnt a harsh truth - time was a fabric too intricate and ancient to tamper with. He decided to use his extraordinary gift wisely henceforth, teaching future Time Weavers the sanctity of time, intertwining caution within their gifts. Thus, he remained, the Time Weaver, who once tried to weave fate, living with a love lost and lessons learned.
