The Time Chariot

Once upon a time, in a busy metropolitan city, lived a kind and ambitious young man named Jeremy. He had recently graduated college with an engineering degree but lived a monotonous life in a dull 9-9 job. Though his job paid the bills, it lacked the creativity and inventiveness he once dreamt about.
Late one evening, as he walked back home tired and worn out, he saw an old woman struggling with her broken vehicle. Jeremy, true to his insightful nature, jumped to provide his assistance. With sheer brilliance, he not only fixed her vehicle but also improvised it to make it more efficient. The thankful old woman apparently revealed herself to be Matilda, a well-known inventor. Matilda, seeing the spark of brilliance in Jeremy, offered him a position in her lab.
Jeremy, overwhelmed by the opportunity, eagerly quit his monotonous job and joined Matilda. The lab was everything he dreamt of. It was filled with projects from solar engines to wireless power transmitters. Matilda and Jeremy, together, with their minds sparked and inventiveness at the bay, unearthed many hidden gems of engineering.
One day, in an archived blue-print box, Jeremy found an unfinished invention named the 'Time Chariot'. Intrigued, he presented the idea of completing it to Matilda. However, Matilda refused outright, saying it was dangerous and beyond human control. But Jeremy, consumed by curiosity, decided to secretly work on it.
Months passed as Jeremy secretly embarked on a journey through the pages of theoretical physics, algorithms of quantum mechanics, and principles of mechanical engineering. Years of his engineering education combined with Matilda's extensive library, helped him to finally build the 'Time Chariot.'
One night, in the silence of the lab, Jeremy finally decided to test the Time Chariot. As he initiated the launch sequence, the machine hummed to life engulfing Jeremy and the area around him in a shimmering halo of light.
When Jeremy finally came to his senses, he found himself in the same lab, but it didn't look the same. It was much larger and filled with advanced tech he had never seen. On one wall he spotted a calendar, the date was fifty years into the future.
Lost and surprised, Jeremy wandered out into the city. The city had transformed, skyscrapers had tripled their size, roads were noiseless with hover cars, and the familiar aroma of the city was replaced with sterile cleanliness. Jeremy realized the full power of the Time Chariot: it could jump forward but never backward.
Days turned into months as Jeremy lost himself in the marvels of the future world. However, as exciting as the future was, he couldn't help but miss his home. The enormity of his time leap ate at him. His family, friends, and Matilda, they were all a part of a life fifty years in the past.
Jeremy, in his newfound loneliness, finally understood the grave consequence of dabbling with time. With a heavy heart, he decided to destroy the Time Chariot. But before he did, he dedicated his life to invent something that would benefit the world in his time.
Despite being in the future, he was, after all, an inventor rigorously trained by Matilda. He designed a device that could harness boundless power from sunlight more efficiently than any solar panel. He documented his creation and left it in Matilda's lab for the inventors of his time to find and use.
With that, Jeremy destroyed the Time Chariot. He lived the rest of his life in the future, alone but satisfied knowing he had given the world a gift only an inventor could give.
Back at Lab in his past, Matilda found the solar device blueprints. Intrigued, she realized it was Jeremy's handwriting. Though upset about his unfathomable disappearance, she was proud of his invention. Matilda executed Jeremy's designs and revolutionized the world by introducing boundless and efficient energy harnessed from the sun, all thanks to her brilliant and yet reckless student who resided fifty years in the future. Their lives, though separated by time, were united by the legacy of an invention.
