The Tale of the Time Viewer

Once upon a time, in a quaint little town nestled deep within an ancient forest lived a young boy named Liam. Liam was unlike any other children of his age, as he was gifted with a precocious intellect and an incessant curiosity about the universe and its secrets.
Liam lived with his loving parents, but he found his most profound kinship with his eccentric grandfather, Samuel. A retired university professor and a prolific inventor, Samuel spent most of his days in his attic, teeming with various machines of diverse sizes and shapes, all artifacts of his innovative mind.
One day, whilst exploring his grandpa's 'covert laboratory,' as he fondly labeled it, Liam stumbled across a device that looked remarkably like a telescope, but oddly advanced and intricate. Swirling with curiosity, he sprinted towards Grandpa Samuel and queried about the mysterious contraption. On hearing Liam's description of the device, a nostalgic smile escaped Samuel's lips.
Samuel gathered his thoughts and answered, "My boy, that's not just a mere telescope, it's a Time Viewer!" Liam’s eyes widened with amazement, as Samuel then explained how the Time Viewer could be used to observe different timelines - past, future, or alternative realities. Samuel further cautioned that while it allows viewing, it doesn't allow for any alterations in those timelines, to ensure the balance of the universe.
For days on end, Liam immersed himself in observing various timelines. He perceived the time when dinosaurs existed, the time when his ancestors were soldiers in history's significant wars, and even a parallel reality where the Earth was dominated by intelligent extraterrestrial beings. His intellect thrived on these newfound insights, making him feel like the beholder of time himself.
However, as he explored further in depth, he stumbled upon a heart-wrenching sight. He saw a timeline where his grandfather was sick and bed-ridden, and the residents of the town were helpless as one by one, they fell victim to the same disease. With a heavy heart, he decided he needed to warn his town and his beloved grandpa and illuminate them about the grim future.
Going against his grandfather’s wisdom, Liam unveiled what he had witnessed in the town meeting that evening. Panic began to set in, the cheerful mien of townsfolk turned into terrified faces. Suddenly, their peaceful existence was threatened by a disease they had no weapons to combat against. The harmonious town was now slowly sinking into the abyss of chaos and fear.
Over the course of the next weeks, paranoid residents started seeing signs of the disease everywhere – a common cold was mistaken as the onset of pestilence, every sneeze was greeted with suspicious eyes, and the local clinic was flooded with healthy people demanding a remedy for the non-existent sickness.
Seeing the turmoil, Liam realized his grave mistake. By trying to prevent an unfortunate future, he had triggered an alternate timeline that was filled with fear and chaos, much worse than what he had seen in the Time Viewer.
Seeing his grandchild laden with guilt and sorrow, Samuel comforted him. Whispering words of wisdom, Samuel said,
"Sometimes complete knowledge isn't power. It’s how you use that knowledge which makes all the difference.”
With a nudged courage, Liam then decided to rectify his error. He started by reassuring his grandfather and the townsfolk that he had misread the Time Viewer and that the disease was nothing more than a simple flu that they had encountered earlier and recovered from. Slowly, things began to settle down as Liam’s steady assurances diffused the rampant panic.
The town returned to its peaceful existence, but with newfound gratitude for health and a simple yet prosperous life. Liam, with newfound wisdom, continued to explore the universe's secrets but bearing in mind to handle foresight with caution and responsibility.
And as for the Time Viewer, it found its place at the corner of the attic once again, constantly whispering the tales of the universe's countless timelines, now to a wiser listener.
