The Tale of the Lunarhawk

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away, nestled between the crest of a cascading waterfall and an eternal canopy of emerald trees, stood the grand castle of Solarania. King Berengar, a benevolent, wise ruler governed this realm with unparalleled wisdom and understanding. Despite the kingdom's reverence to its king, beneath the glory lied an undercurrent of despair. His majesty Berengar was haunted by an ancient prophecy that foretold the fall of his reign when the elusive Lunarhawk will emerge from the shadows of the moon.
The Lunarhawk, according to ancient scrolls, was a mythical creature of great power – a near god with silver wings that could cloak and blend into the pallor of the moon. Its iridescent eyes had the power to see through deceit, and it was believed to choose a vessel on earth to host its remarkable power. The chosen vessel, the prophecy predicted, would rise as the ultimate ruler rendering the present reign obsolete.
In a small village on the outskirts of the kingdom, a boy named Elden lived. He was orphaned at a tender age and had holey rags for clothes, crumbs for meals, and the sky for a roof. His innocence and goodness, however, were as deep and wide as the ocean. The villagers loved Elden and offered their aid, but amidst the hardships, Elden maintained his buoyant spirit and refused to live on donated bread. He was unknown to the world, his existence as insignificant as a pebble lying on the wayside.
One night, as Elden lay on the grassy patch staring at the moon, a sharp ray of light slithered from the rocky contours of the moon. Elden watched in disbelief as the light grew larger, morphing into a bright silhouette of a giant bird. As it neared, its silver wings glistening in the moonlight, Elden realized - it was the mythical Lunarhawk!
The Lunarhawk descended before Elden, its eyes shone as it pierced through Elden's humble spirit. With a loud caw, it cast an enchantment. A powerful veil of energy enveloped Elden, lifting him off the ground. His lean body bolstered, mind amplified, and heart fortified with profound compassion. The Lunarhawk then dissolved into a swarm of silver feathers eddying into the sky. It was clear, Elden was chosen as the Lunarhawk's earthly vessel.
Elden arose the next morning, slightly disoriented but stronger. He found himself being able to do impossible tasks – lifting cages as heavy as boulders, healing illnesses by merely touching, and seeing through the villagers' undisclosed truths. His humbleness remained untouched, despite these newfound abilities. Soon, the villagers noticed the changes and word spread across the kingdom. News of the Lunarhawk’s chosen one reached King Berengar, and he dreaded the prophecy’s fulfillment.
The villagers pleaded with Elden to claim the throne, restoring harmony in Solarania. Elden, unsure of the possible chaos claim would bring, decided to resolve the matter peacefully. He journeyed to the castle, proposing a harmonious co-rule with Berengar. King Berengar, engulfed by fear, rejected Elden’s proposition. Outraged, he sent out an army, declaring a combat.
Elden, armed with the powers bestowed upon him, battled fiercely, his heart yearned peace. He defended every attack, leaving no soldier wounded. King Berengar, watching the prowess, felt an earth-shattering revelation; he’d misunderstood the prophecy. The Lunarhawk didn’t bring downfall, instead, paved a path for a shared rule, a harmonious government.
With newfound realization, Berengar terminated the battle, welcoming Elden as his co-ruler. Elden's reign brought significant changes to the kingdom. With insight from the Lunarhawk, poverty diminished, the economy improved, and happiness permeated in every corner. A once-dreaded prophecy turned into the kingdom’s salvation, proof that every change isn't annihilating, but paving a path to a better existence.
