The Tale of Forest Edge
Once upon a time, there was a small quiet town named 'Forest Edge'. It was named so, as it was structured right on the edge of a dense, dark forest, which was a home to various wild creatures. The population of the town was around a thousand. The town was headed by an old, yet wise man named Albert. He had been the town's head for a long duration now and loved by almost everyone.
Albert had a difficult task in his hands, the forest adjoining the town was getting denser, and with every passing day, the danger from wild creatures increased. The children of the town often played near the edge of Forest, while the adults fetched firewood. Albert feared for everyone's safety.
The town was lacking the resources to keep the wild animals at bay, and a solution was needed. One day, a traveler stopped at their small town. His name was Norman. He had an enormous build and was adept at creating structures & barriers from wooden logs. Albert saw an opportunity here and asked him if he could make a sturdy barrier around their town using the wood from the forest. Norman agreed in exchange for food and stay.
The town was filled with excitement and everyone lent a helping hand. There was a renewed spirit in the air, as, for the first time in years, the town felt they could sleep without the fear of wild creatures. The work began and days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Finally, after four long months, the barrier was ready.
That night, Albert threw a feast for the whole town, and they all celebrated around a big bonfire. They celebrated not just the completion of their work, but also their unity and spirit. They slept easily that night, knowing they were safe. However, the next morning brought shock and disappointment. A part of the barrier was destroyed. Wild boars from the forest had overrun it during the night.
It was a hard blow for the town. Norman was equally shocked and disappointed. He pledged to rebuild the barrier and strengthen it. Norman worked with the men and women of the town to design a completely new barrier system. With this new design, if one section was breached, it wouldn't affect the structural integrity of the rest of the fence.
Another buffer was also added before the main barrier, acting as a deterrent to the wild creatures. After two more months of back-breaking work, they succeeded in building the barrier system. This time, it was definitely sturdier and well-structured.
The town saw peace for the next several years, and there were no significant breaches again. They have Norman to thank for this who was later adopted as a part of their community. Life in Forest Edge town was once again harmonious and full of joy. In the end, they learned a valuable lesson: Though life can be brutal at times, it’s through unity, spirit, and determination that we can overcome the greatest of obstacles.
