The Story of the Lost Island
Once upon a time, in a small not so quiet town of Galinas, teeming with fishermen and sailors, the locals shared tales of a mysterious island said to disappear and reappear like a ghost.
In the heart of the town lived a young, curious girl named Mia, proud daughter of the well-respected lighthouse keeper. Ever since she was a little girl, she’d been captivated by her father’s stories about the sea and particularly the 'Lost Island'. The tales she heard about were more than just sailors’ myths to her; they were enthralling mysteries waiting to be unveiled.
When Mia turned fifteen, her father gave her a peculiar present - an ornate brass spyglass. It was no regular spyglass but belonged to an old seafarer, who claimed to have actually seen the Lost Island. This gift sparked a flame in Mia's heart, an uncontrollable desire to discover this enigmatic landmass.
The very next morning, Mia rushed to the nearby shipyard and looked for the most seasoned sailing crew. Perhaps, 'The Briny Beard' and its crew were the perfect one for such a perilous journey. Notorious for their daring adventures, together they embarked on a voyage to the heart of the sea aboard the sturdy vessel.
On the fifteenth day of the journey, the sea turned turbulent and a monstrous tempest hit them. Both the crew and ship wrestled valiantly with the sea's wrath, till a blinding bolt of lightning flared across the sky and led their way. When the storm ceased and the fog lifted, a breathtaking sight greeted their eyes.
Just beyond the horizon, shrouded in mist, lay an unworldly beautiful island. Mia, promptly took out her spyglass and what she saw left her utterly bewitched; it was indeed the Lost Island, just as she had imagined, a place pulsing with an unearthly magic.
As they dared to steer their ship towards it, they noticed the intricate, lush flora and fauna flourishing on it, among them creatures that were like nothing they had ever seen. It was as if the island existed in a different realm, untouched by time or man.
Excitement soon turned into terror when the island started to shiver violently, like a beast awakening from a long sleep. Suddenly, towering stone statues came to life, protecting the island from the intruders. The island began sinking back into the ocean depths, triggering panic among the crew who began to row in the opposite direction frantically.
However, Mia stood her ground, eyes affixed on the sinking island while holding the spyglass. A sudden realization struck her; the spyglass was the key to understanding the island's mystery. She shouted instructions, and the crew changed their course, heading back to the island.
The moment Mia landed on the shore, the trembling ceased. Holding the spyglass to her eye, she looked through and saw an ethereal aura that seemed to dance around the island. A soft voice echoed in her ears, telling her that the island could only be seen but never touched. It existed to preserve the last sanctuary of pure magic in the world.
Having understood the truth now, Mia returned to the ship. Just as they sailed away, the island began to disappear, submerging into the depths once more. Arriving home, Mia was greeted as a hero and a sage. From then on, the town started to view the Lost Island not merely as a myth, but as an embodiment of nature's magic that guarded the balance of the world.
The Lost Island remained an untold secret to the outside world. Still, Mia, the small-town lighthouse-keeper's daughter, felt an immeasurable pride only she and her town's people could understand, for the 'Lost Island' was their treasure and their story to cherish forever.
