The Song of the Silent Woods
A long time ago, in a kingdom far away, nestled in the lap of an untouched forest known as the Silent Woods, lived a quiet and benevolent king named Eldrid. The woods were named so for its tranquil ambiance that awarded the kingdom harmony and peace, uninterrupted.
The harmonious existence was however shattered one day by a terrifying beast that began to stalk the woods. The creature had piercing yellow eyes, scales tougher than the hardest steel, and unleashed deafening roars that echoed through the forest, scaring away its peaceful dwellers.
The king was quite disturbed by these unprecedented events. Yet, he believed that every creature was part of the divine balance, and so instead of resorting to violence, he decided to discover why the beast was causing such harm. Eldrid, being a wise king, first approached the royal oracle, a woman held in high esteem for her prophetic wisdom.
The oracle told Eldrid that the creature was a dragon named Eridon, the Guardian of Balance. Disturbance in the world prompts Eridon to rise from his slumber. She argued that there must be a disruption in the Silent Woods, which had been overseen. The oracle told Eldrid that to solve the problem, he had to find the disruption and restore balance.
Driven by the oracle's words, King Eldrid set forth to investigate the Silent Woods. He noticed the hurried activity of the lumberjacks, who were chopping more trees than needed. Eldrid felt a sinking sensation as he realized he had failed to control the excessive lumbering, which was clearly disturbing the forest's peace.
King Eldrid immediately implemented new laws limiting the lumbering. The laws were met with widespread discontent among the people who were used to the unrestricted exploitation of the forest's resources. It took time, patience, and reassurances from the king to mollify the discontent. The woods slowly started returning to their former serenity, but Eridon's rampage did not cease.
Frustrated but undeterred, Eldrid returned to the oracle. She told him Eridon was also a creature of sound who communicated through it, and there was a song, 'The Melody of Balance.' This melody had the power to soothe Eridon and make him understand the balance was being restored.
Unfortunately, the oracle didn't know the melody but directed Eldrid to the 'Custodians of Melody' - a secret order of musicians who used music for magic and healing. With no time to lose, King Eldrid set out on a journey towards these gifted individuals.
The journey was arduous, filled with hardships and trials. Eldrid, with his unwavering resolve, journeyed far and wide, crossing dangerous terrains, until finally, he arrived at the hidden abode of the Custodians of Melody. With great humility, he requested them to play the Melody of Balance.
With the melody, Eldrid returned to his kingdom. As Eridon appeared to cause unrest, the king, holding firm, began to play the Melody. An eerie silence filled the air as Eldrid's melody flowed through the silence. The beast, enchanted by the melody, calmed down listening to the beautiful music indicating balance and understanding.
Assured that peace had been restored, Eridon, the Guardian of Balance, withdrew back into his deep slumber. The kingdom flourished, resounding with the echo of King Eldrid's melody. The Silent Woods, now truly silent and balanced, stood gracefully, a symbol of the perfect harmony between man and nature.
In time, the story of King Eldrid, Eridon, and the Silent Wood's song became a tale told down generations. It became an unsaid rule that every child learned to play this melody, ensuring that the kingdom remained in harmony with the Silent Woods, that music was the ultimate path to understanding, and that balance in all aspects of life was crucial for peace and harmony.
