The Song of the Sea Dragon
Long ago, in a quiet fishing village nestled between emerald hills and the ever-churning ocean, a myth of a fantastical sea creature lived. The creature, they said, was a dragon, unlike any other, born of the sea, the sky, and the stars. The dragon had shimmered in a thousand shades of blue, hues that mirrored the sky at twilight and the depths of the deepest oceans. Its wings were made of sea-foam, and its eyes held the gleam of the most brilliant star. This 'Sea Dragon' was the village's guardian, its benefactor, its friend.
Yet, there was something more mystical about the Sea Dragon. It was not its iridescent scales or its swirling sea-foam wings, but its voice. The Sea Dragon sang a song unlike any other, a melody born of the wind's whispers, the ocean's lullabies, and the starlight's gentle sighs. This song was as enigmatic as it was enchanting, for it was said to have the power to calm the stormiest seas, guide lost seafarers, and even heal the gravest wounds.
One day, a young fisherman's son, Asa, who was known for his bravery and adventurous spirit, decided to seek the Song of the Sea Dragon. Asa had always been fascinated by the legend, and he longed to hear the dragon’s song that had been described as the most beautiful sound one could ever hear. So, he decided to venture out into the sea alone, ignoring the villagers' concern and his parent’s fear.
He sailed for days and nights, through still waters and stormy seas, never losing hope, even when things looked bleak. Finally, on a starlit night, Asa spotted a silhouette in the distance hovering over the sea. It was the Sea Dragon.
Cautiously, he approached the dragon, heart pounding in his chest. The creature was as magnificent as the stories had described, even more so up close. Yet, it didn't radiate a dreadful aura as most dragons did in the folktales. Instead, it exuded a sense of peace that enveloped Asa, easing his nerves.
With a trembling voice, Asa expressed his desire to hear the Sea Dragon's Song. To his surprise, the dragon didn't spew fire or raise storms but lowered its head, looking at him with curious, gleaming eyes. Asa repeated his request once more, his voice steadier now, his gaze unwavering. Intently, the dragon studied him, sensing his bravery, his humility, and his pure intentions.
The Sea Dragon chose to share its song with Asa. He opened his wings, casting an ethereal glow on the ocean below. And then it began, the song. Asa listened, utterly captivated, as each note resonated with his very soul. It was a song filled with melancholy, with joy, with love, with the sound of nature itself, and a distant reminder of the constant rhythm of life and death. It made Asa feel small and yet significant — a part of the colossal cosmic dance.
He returned to the village with the Sea Dragon's song in his heart. The villagers were astounded to see Asa safe and to learn about his encounter. Even though he could not recreate the song as beautifully as the Sea Dragon, everyone who heard it felt a similar surge of emotions that Asa had experienced that starlit night.
In honor of the Sea Dragon and its song, the villagers built a shrine. They would gather there every monthly full moon to remember the dragon's gift and, led by Asa, sing the song of the sea. Legend says that on days when the villagers sang, the sea would become unusually calm, and a serene aura would descend on the village. It was as if the Sea Dragon was acknowledging their tribute, joining them from afar in the ethereal melody. And so, the legacy of Asa and the enchanted Song of the Sea Dragon lived on.
