The Song of the Sage

Once upon a time, in the heart of Ymaris forest, there lived an old sage named Alder with his trusty wolf, Fenris. Alder was known throughout the land for his enchanting songs, legends said that his rhythm had the power to invoke nature’s spirits.
One day, troubled tidings reached Alder. A distant village Kairis was suffering from a relentless drought. Their once glistening lake had dried up, their fields were no more green and plush. Alder was their only hope, the villagers believed in the magic of his songs and felt it could bring back the rain.
Overwhelmed by their pain, Alder decided to embark on a journey to Kairis with Fenris. The path was perilous and fraught with danger. Sage Alder's age was visible in his grey hair and hunched back, but his spirit was virile and determined. Hidden under Alder's calm and serene temperament was an undying spirit.
After days of rigorous travel, their foothold weakened, draining their vitality. Yet their determination didn’t falter. Along their journey, they experienced nature’s incongruous forms. A blistering sun, dire beasts, and treacherous terrains were all part and parcel of their journey.
Finally, they reached parched Kairis. The villagers, hearing about their arrival, were racked with hope and anticipated the miracle from the song of the sage. Alder, seeing the hope in their eyes, promised to help them.
Alder started to prepare; his allies were his knowledge, his voice and his lute. He retreated into solitude and began a ritual of fasting and meditation. After days and nights of contemplation and preparation, he felt ready to sing the song that would bring rain.
On the morning of the anticipated day, the villagers gathered around. Sage Alder sat down cross-legged under the ancient tree. His closed eyes, serene face, and rhythmic breathing created an aura of divinity. The silence of anticipation was broken by the soft melody of the lute that filled the parched air.
Alder began to sing, his voice filled with emotion, a melody both heart-rending and uplifting. His ancient song flowed like a stream through the air, blending seamlessly with the harmony of his lute. Each note created an ineffable symphony, tendrils of magic emanated from them, spiralling into the sky.
As his voice resonated with the harmony of nature, dark clouds started to form in the sky. The villagers watched with eyes wide as the sea, hope shining like the brightest stars. The clouds greyed and thunder growled; a cool wind swept across the Kairis, it was filled with the promise of rain. Within no time, the first drop of rain fell on the ground, followed by the second, then the third, until it turn into a joyous shower.
The villagers rejoiced. Their cheers echoed in the trees, their dances swirled with the muddy ground, their smiles were as bright as the rainbow arching the sky after the rain. Gratitude filled their hearts for Alder, who disappeared quietly while they celebrated, leaving a legend behind.
Even today, when the villagers of Kairis see the first raindrop of the season fall, they remember the sage Alder. His magic, his melody, and his love for mankind made him immortal in their stories. The sage might be long gone, but his Song of Rain will forever echo in the hearts of the villagers.
