The Small-town Secret

Once upon a time, in the small town of Griffin Peak, nestled amidst an array of snow-capped mountains, a peculiar incident took place that sparked a series of extraordinary events. An abandoned mansion, Mulberry Manor, at the town's edge started glowing with mysterious neon lights every midnight. The locals were used to the eeriness of the mansion, but this new development found tongues wagging in the otherwise quiet town.
The town postman, Harvey, was a portly gentleman known for his scientific knowledge and insatiable curiosity. His interest was piqued by these strange occurrences, and he decided to figure out the mystery. Along with his two nephews, Robert and Wayne, he devised a plan to inspect the mansion.
As night fell, the trio embarked on their adventure. Harvey's calm yet enthusiastic demeanor encouraged the enthusiastic Wayne and the timid Robert. Equipped with a flashlight, they cautiously made their way into the once magnificent mansion now cloaked in dust. The trio felt a chill run down their spines as they stepped in. The grandeur of the mansion was still visible despite years of neglect, adding an eerie beauty to it. Although once elegant, the mansion now only echoed the past.
As midnight approached, the mansion started to glow with neon lights that strangely did not seem that eerie. Instead, a feeling of tranquility washed over them. Harvey, followed by Wayne and Robert, made their way towards the source of the light, which led them to the mansion's library. Rows upon rows of dusty books stood undisturbed for what seemed like centuries, and at the end of the room, a mysterious artifact, gleaming under the neon lights, caught their attention.
It was a mechanically intricate device, shaped like an hourglass. As Harvey neared the artifact, it began vibrating, releasing a dim glow. He carefully studied the device and discovered an inscription that read, 'Time Truth To Tell.' Being an avid reader and lover of riddles, Harvey quickly realized that this was a cleverly crafted anagram which when rearranged, spelled 'The Truth To Time.'
Suddenly, the device started whirring and a sharp beam of light projected onto a section of the library. The beam directed them to a dusty, leather-bound book titled 'The Chronicle of Griffin Peak.' Harvey carefully opened the book. It narrated the history of the town, and to their surprise, revealed that the Mulberry Manor was a stop-point for time travelers!
The neon lights, the artifact, the hidden truths in a history book; everything suddenly made sense. The mansion was not haunted but touched by visitors from different timelines! Awestruck with their discovery, they carefully placed the book back and traced their steps out of the mansion, promising to keep its secret.
Next morning, the town resumed its usual life, oblivious to the late-night adventure. Harvey and his nephews decided to safeguard the mansion's secret, for some secrets are charming when left untold. However, their bond strengthened, and the mansion continued to glow every midnight, serenely watching over the small town of Griffin Peak.
The intriguing adventure ended, but the memory of deciphering the small-town secret became a cherished story among Harvey, Robert, and Wayne, who would forever share a unique connection with the mansion. The tale of this fateful night, although untold to the world, lived on in their hearts, making Griffin Peak not just another small town but a gem hiding a precious secret.
