The Shepherd King of Miren
Once upon a time, in the ancient kingdom of Miren, there lived a revered and wise king named Feran. He was known far and wide for his wisdom and his commitment to the welfare of his subjects. But the cunning minister Sinak, who was envious of the king's popularity, so he tried to find a way to usurp the throne.
Sinak contrived a plan and started to spread rumors about the king’s unfair reign, sowing seeds of doubt among the people. However, the sympathy and love they had for their king overshadowed Sinak's destruction.
Conversely, in the far reaches of Miren kingdom, lived a young, charismatic lad Roran, an ordinary shepherd yet endowed with an extraordinary intellect. He too, was discontent with his life, yearning for adventure beyond the vast green pastures.
One night, the forest seer had a vision that only a pure heart could secure the kingdom from an impending disaster. The signs indicated it to be Roran, the humble shepherd. The seer sent her most trusted aide to find Roran and bring him to the king.
Roran was taken aback by the unexpected summon but accepted the call for an adventure. He was brought before the throne. Though seemingly frightened, Roran's spirit was blazon with inner strength.
King Feran, meticulous as he was, spotted that spark and decided to test Roran's wisdom. He was given a riddle to solve. 'Who can ace the field but cannot wield the shield?'. Roran pondered briefly and said, 'A farmer, my King. For his mastery lies in nature, in his fields but not in wars or wielding the shield.' The king, surprisingly pleased with the answer, instantly recognised Roran's extraordinary wisdom.
Meanwhile, the malevolent Sinak, aware of Roran’s rising status, saw an opportunity to use him to fulfill his wishes. He approached Roran with a scheme and promised him a place in the court if he helped Sinak.
However, Roran's wisdom saw through Sinak's ill-intentions. Instead, he informed the king about Sinak's vicious antics and his plan to take over the kingdom. Unfolding the minister's betrayal before him left King Feran in profound shock and fury, leading to Sinak's immediate banishment.
As days passed, the shepherd, turned-royal-adviser, helped transform the kingdom into an idyllic place. He implemented changes in farming techniques, enhancing the yield, ensuring the people's welfare and prosperity, ultimately fulfilling his role of guarding the kingdom against the prophesied disaster.
Roran’s wisdom, his genuine concern for the kingdom, made him a beloved figure among his people. King Feran, immensely grateful to Roran, proclaimed him the heir to his kingdom, showering him with gratitude and honor.
The story of Miren, King Feran and Roran is a timeless tale. A testament to the fact that wisdom and courage can defeat even the most perilous dangers, and an individual's birth status does not determine their destiny.
It glorifies one simple truth: It is not a title that honors a man, but rather, it is the man who honors the title.
