The Shepherd and the Fallen Star
In a kingdom called Gesaria, nestled amidst towering snow-capped mountains and sun-kissed valleys, lived a humble shepherd named Dom. Dom was renowned throughout the land for the remarkable wool that his sheep produced. This wool was soft and plush yet strong - a unique combination that made it highly sought after. However, there was an intriguing secret to the wool's unmatched texture.
One night, a star fell from the sky right into Dom's pasture. The sheep, frightened initially, were drawn to the fallen star’s mystifying beauty. They huddled around it, enshrouding the star with their warm bodies and gentle baas. Over time, they came to treasure their guest from the heavens. The star, in return, whispered the tales of the cosmos to the sheep during the night. Its ethereal knowledge seeped into the sheep’s wool, and, that was the secret of the mystical wool.
One day, the King Chiron, obsessed with the finest materials, learned about the wool and decided he too must have this unique luxury. He assigned his craftiest merchant, Bosco, to acquire the special wool.
Unaware of the fallen star, Bosco offered Dom a handsome amount of gold for his wool. Dom, a man of integrity, refused the gold explaining, 'The wool is not mine to sell; it belongs to the sheep as much as to the fallen star’.
Bosco forced Dom to reveal his secret. Bosco laid his eyes on the radiant star and was immediately overwhelmed by greed. Determined to own the star, Bosco hatched a malicious plan.
While the star shared its cosmic tales with the sheep, Bosco trapped the star in an enchanted crystal ball, silencing its voices forever. Overnight, the wool fell lifeless, losing its peculiar quality.
The Kingdom fell into sorrow as the story of the trapped star spread. The sheep grew weak and Dom, helplessly, could do nothing but lament over his lost friends. Meanwhile, Bosco presented the star to Chiron, smugly boasting about his achievement.
Chiron, upon seeing the ball, felt a deep pang of remorse. Realising his role in bringing about this misfortune, he ordered Bosco to return the star. But Bosco, in his arrogance, refused and was banished from Gesaria.
Chiron, tormented with guilt, sought Dom’s wisdom to right his wrongs. The fallen star had created a bond with Dom and the sheep that was evidently more than material value. Astonished by Dom's insightful affection for the star, Chiron released the star from the crystal ball.
As the star broke free, their corner of the cosmos rejoiced. Returning to the sheep, it began to recite tales again; the sheep’s wool recaptured its magical texture, and Dom, with joy in his heart, thanked Chiron for understanding his bond with the sheep.
Chiron, in return for his humility, was gifted a cloak tailored from the mystical wool, serving as a reminder of his newfound wisdom. With this act, Dom, the humble shepherd, brought about a radical change in the way Gesaria valued their resources and bonds, uniting them in wisdom and empathy.
Dom continued to care for his sheep and the fallen star with unwavering love. The story of the warm, brave shepherd never faded from the hearts of Gesaria, and the tales of the cosmos never ceased from the lips of the star.
