The Shepherd's Lantern

Once upon a time in the humble town of Green Meadows there lived a simple shepherd named Elias. Like every day, Elias would take his flock of sheep up to the mountains and let them graze there for the entire day. As the evening would approach, he would gather his flock and take them back down to the village. This was his daily routine.
One day while Elias was taking his flock into the mountains, he saw an ancient oak tree. The oak tree stood there as if it had seen ages come and go. Under the tree, Elias discovered an old, rusty lantern. The lantern wasn't emitting light but shone brightly under the sunlight, almost like an unusual metallic sunflower. Intrigued, Elias decided to take the lantern home.
Back in his house, he tried lighting the oil-soaked wick of the lantern. Suddenly, a genie appeared in the room right before his eyes. He was smartly dressed, had a shimmering aura around him. He introduced himself as 'Zuzu, the genie of the lantern.'. In exchange for freeing him, Zuzu offered Elias three wishes. Elias, a kind and honest man, barely had any worldly desires.
However, his heart ached to see the plight of his people who struggled day in and day out. His village had been experiencing years of drought that led to famines, inflicting suffering on it. Therefore, his first wish was for his village to never fall short of water and harvest.
Zuzu granted his wish, and it started raining that very moment, filling all the wells with an inexhaustible supply of water. The crops that didn't yield anything started growing overnight.
Suddenly, Elias was a hero in everyone's eyes. The villagers were curious to know about his sudden ability to change things. He was mindful not to reveal about the genie, but he knew that some secrets can't stay hidden forever. He decided on his second wish, asking for the wisdom to lead his village effectively in trying times.
The genie granted this wish too. He became a sage-like figure, with a deep understanding of not only nature and the elements but also of people, politics, and strategies. Elias guided his village out of several crises, making the villagers admire him even more.
In the stillness of these joyous times, Elias remembered his last wish. He had already changed the fortunes of his village and he didn't crave for more personal power. However, he felt the responsibility of ensuring the continued peace and prosperity of the village. He asked Zuzu for his people to always possess the wisdom to choose the right leader.
Zuzu granted his last wish and vanished, leaving behind the now plain lantern.
Elias was a hero, a sage, and a great leader. Under Elias's watchful eyes and wise rule, the village flourished and remained prosperous for years to come. When the time came for him to step down, the villagers chose their next leader wisely, just as Elias had wished for. The village of Green Meadows became a place where peace did not depend on a hero alone but on the wisdom of its people, who had learned, chosen, and grown under the leadership of their humble shepherd.
In the end, Elias found himself standing before the same old oak tree where this incredible journey had begun. He noticed that the tree had grown new leaves, symbolizing renewal and growth. Peacefully, he smiled. This was his legacy - a legacy of prosperity, wisdom, and unyielding spirit.
