The Rose That Taught A King
Once upon a time in a kingdom far away, there dwelled a reclusive and melancholic king named Theodore. King Theodore was known for his wisdom and his deep intellect, yet he hardly left his castle precincts or interacted with his subjects. Shadows of a painful past haunted the king and kept him imprisoned within his own castle.
In the same kingdom, there also lived an ordinary farmer named Alexander. Despite his humble lifestyle, Alexander was rich in contentment and happiness. His zest for life was infectious and he was well respected in the community for his positive outlook and immense knowledge about farming.
One fateful day, while Theodore was taking a rare stroll around the castle gardens, he stumbled upon a ravishingly beautiful rose. Thorns had entrapped the rose causing it intense suffering. The sight of the rose struck a chord with Theodore, reminding him of his own distress. Immediately, he sought to relieve the rose of its pain.
He sent for the court physician but the physician expressed his inability to aid a rose. However, he suggested approaching Alexander, the farmer, for his extensive knowledge of plants. Intrigued and desperate, Theodore summoned Alexander.
The next day, a bespectacled Alexander stood before a curious Theodore, his face shining with sincerity and humility. After inspecting the rose, Alexander softly stated, 'Your majesty, the rose isn’t entrapped by the thorns. It has been planted on the wrong type of soil. It needs a more suitable environment to bloom without suffering.'
Impressed by the farmer’s wisdom, the king had the rose relocated to the appropriate soil and within days, the rose started to bloom magnificently. The withering rose's miraculous recovery brought immense joy to Theodore. He felt this renewal symbolised his own liberation from his horrific past.
Looking at the revitalised rose, King Theodore realised the wisdom in Alexander's words. He understood that he, just like the rose, was not entrapped by his past, rather he was in the wrong mental and emotional environment. He needed to relocate himself from this place of recurring sorrow to a more fitting realm of acceptance and tranquillity.
Motivated and inspired, Theodore started interacting with his subjects, listening to their sorrows and joy, their expectations and desires. With each passing day, Theodore felt his heart warm up to the world outside his castle. His melancholy faded away, substituting with a light he had believed was long extinguished.
Theodore’s transformation astounded his subjects. They started respecting him even more for his wisdom and his courage to overcome his past. The rejuvenated king began developing his kingdom, making it fairer, happier and prosperous.
The tale of King Theodore and Alexander, the humble farmer, spread far and wide. It became a story of transformation and hope, inspiring people to confront their past and make a change. The tale encouraged them to shift their emotional environment to positively influence their future.
And from that moment on, the rose bloomed proudly in Theodore’s garden, serving as a constant reminder to the king and his subjects of the importance of the right environment and embracing change.
