The Rise of the Silent Water

Once upon a time, in a remote kingdom known as Curbanglia, a mysterious phenomenon left its inhabitants in complete awe and disbelief. This quiet and beautifully serene kingdom was known for its broad rivers that sparkled under the golden sun. Although stunning, these rivers, especially the largest one, named Silent Water, were quiet - unusually quiet.
For centuries, not even a single ripple was witnessed in the Silent Water. Tales of this enigmatic river spread across lands, taking the form of legends and mythical stories told to curious children during starry nights. To them, the Silent Water, standing motionless and calm, symbolized tranquillity and harmony that existed within Curbanglia.
But one day, everything changed. The Silent Water began to rise. Slowly but steadily, its water levels started to increase. This occurrence startled the residents of Curbanglia. The peaceful kingdom was on the verge of facing severe calamity, yet no solution was in sight.
King Wenam, a wise and honorable ruler of Curbanglia, was deeply perturbed. For days and nights, he sought counsel from his advisors, sages, and even the oldest inhabitants, hoping it could offer some insight. But to their surprise, none of the ancient scripts or folklores mentioned the Silent Water ever stirring from its eternal tranquility.
Seeking help from the outside world, a young and daring scout named Eilian was sent to the neighboring kingdoms. Endowed with lightning-fast speed and stealth, Eilian ventured out, bearing the silent prayers of her people, hoping to return with a resolution.
In her journey, Eilian crossed the daunting mountains and the harsh deserts, passing through several kingdoms, yet unable to find an answer. Eventually, her path led her to a secluded island known as Gleichet. This island was home to Aris, the old Seer.
Known for her profound wisdom and her ability to decipher nature's signs, Aris was the lone inhabitant of the island. After hearing Eilian's story, Aris calmly instructed her to return to Curbanglia as the answer lied within the kingdom itself.
Feeling a surge of hope, Eilian rushed back to Curbanglia, where the Silent Water had now nearly swallowed half the kingdom. King Wenam, still trying to keep the anxiety at bay, welcomed the scout back, desperately waiting for any news that could save their kingdom.
Eilian narrated her encounter with the Seer, mentioning how Aris believed that the solution was within Curbanglia. The King was puzzled yet decided to trust in the Seer's wisdom, ordering a search throughout the kingdom. The entire kingdom ventured out, turning every stone and investigating every corner.
In the heart of the kingdom, there lay an ancient shrine, dedicated to the river goddess, Caeruleum. As tradition goes, the shrine had to be maintained regularly lest it angered Caeruleum, causing the Silent Water to rise. Over generations, the significance of this tradition faded, and the shrine fell into neglect.
When the revelation struck King Wenam, he felt a wave of guilt and panic wash over him. With no time to lose, he ordered immediate restoration of the shrine. The inhabitants of Curbanglia worked tirelessly, restoring the shrine to its former glory. Once completed, the King led a grand ceremony, apologizing and pledging to honor Caeruleum always.
The following morning, the kingdom held its breath as they observed Silent Water. To their relief and joy, the water levels had begun to recede. The Silent Water was returning to its calm, tranquil state. The kingdom of Curbanglia breathed a sigh of relief, their land now saved from the imminent disaster.
The event became a legend, passed down as a reminder to respect and honor nature's entities, lest their wrath could be destructive. The day marked a celebration of their realization and the restoration of harmony between Curbanglia and Silent Water.
And thus, the story of the Silent Water is remembered, reminding everyone of the consequences of neglect and the importance of cherishing what we invariably take for granted.
