The Prophecy of the Divine Lotus

In a secluded mountain range in Tibet lived a young monk named Tenzin. He stood out amongst his fellow acolytes due to his radiating joyfulness and a captivating calm demeanor. Tenzin held within him an immeasurable well of kindness, the depth of which none else could fathom.
Tenzin studied at the grand monastery of Dharamsala, an imposing structure protected by the towering snowcapped peaks. Here, he spent his days immersed in meditation, Scripture studies, and various chores. Tenzin held particular fondness towards fiery debates about the soul, the cosmos, and the intricate maze that is life.
One day, an aged host of the monastery, Lobsang, shared about an ancient prophecy. The prophecy spoke of a divine lotus with nine petals, which would bloom only once in a thousand years. The sight of this lotus was said to grant one with the ultimate knowledge and enlightenment. But only a soul untattered by ambition, greed, fear, or desire could find it. Hearing the prophecy, Tenzin found himself enchanted by the prospect of locating the divine lotus.
With the blessing of Lobsang and other monks, he embarked on a journey. He ascended down treacherous cliffs and crossed bone-chilling rivers. He battled solitude, hunger, and the relentless cold. With each passing day, he moved closer to his destiny.
One day, he encountered a terrifying wolf in the forest. Recognizing his calmness, the wolf surprisingly stepped aside, allowing Tenzin to pass. Another day, he found a terminally ill bird on the forest floor, and in exchange for his help, the bird gave him a feather, which magically guided him towards his destination. Every creature he met on his journey became a friend, guide, or teacher, acknowledging his love for all beings.
Following the bird's guidance, he arrived in a secluded valley shrouded by mist. At its heart stood a towering old tree, the trunk, many centuries old, spraying up into an ocean of vibrant, endless blue. Bend down below the tree was a petite severed stem. Tenzin keenly observed it and found, to his astonishment, that it had nine succinct segments.
Understanding struck him like a thunderbolt- the divine lotus was gone! He fell to his knees in a landslide of despair. Yet, deep down, he found courage to control his sorrow. He knelt down to pay respects to the beheaded flower, whispering soothing words to the wind, hoping they would reach the flower in its afterlife.
As he stood up to leave, his tear fell onto the severed stem. Within a blink, it spruced up into a beautiful lotus with nine iridescent petals. The divine lotus was still alive! It had only been waiting for a soul pure and venerable enough to awaken it.
Just when the prophecy said it would, the divine lotus bloomed under Tenzin's benignant gaze. It filled the valley with a surreal light defying time, space and the worldly planes. There were nine lotus petals, each symbolizing values he outpoured- kindness, peace, compassion, wisdom, humility, patience, harmony, joyfulness and gratitude.
In the heart of the celestial glow, Tenzin found his epiphany. The prophecy was never about finding knowledge outside but to awaken it inside oneself. Once the enlightenment dawned on him, the prophecy was fulfilled, and the lotus vanished into thin air, leaving only the intoxicating fragrance lingering.
Tenzin returned to Dharamsala to raucous applause; his beaming face was the evidence of his success. But, he was the same Tenzin, unscathed by pride or arrogance. He resumed his life in the monastery, intending to guide others onto the path of self-discovery, sharing the wisdom of the divine lotus bloom that dwells not in petals but in one's soul.
