The Promise of Another Tomorrow

In a sleepy little town of Clareville, by the suburban aura of life, lived a boy named Samuel. He was an ordinary boy with extraordinary dreams. Samuel's father, Mr. Robinson, was a well-respected man in town, a humble watchmaker. His mother, Mrs. Robinson, was known for her delicious apple pies and benevolent heart.
Samuel was enchanted by the mysteries of space. The celestial bodies fascinated him, sparking a myriad of questions. His room was adorned with photos of the galaxies, constellations and shining stars that fuelled his dreams each night. He spent countless hours gazing out his telescope, hoping to catch a glimpse of a shooting star, to make a wish—a chance to go to space.
One day, as Samuel was stargazing, he saw a meteor crash in the nearby forest. Dazed and excited, he rushed to the spot. There, amidst the underbrush and burnt remnants, he found a metallic stone, which radiated an unusual energy. A loud voice echoed in his head, making him tumble backwards in surprise. The stone introduced itself as Galaxia, an alien stone left by an advanced civilization, with the power to grant one wish.
Satisfied that his dreams were about to unfold, he made his only wish - to be an astronaut and explore outer space. Galaxia, accepting his wish, unfolded an ancient talisman. The next moment he was not on Earth but in a magnificent spaceship, overwhelmed with joy and terror.
His days on the spacecraft turned more adventurous than Samuel could ever imagine. He learnt to control the spaceship on trial and error basis, and luckily didn't make a mess of it. He explored several planets, some with vast golden deserts while others with undulating hills of lush green trees, mesmerised by their beauty. He surfed Saturn's rings and even played with meteor dirt. The stars he used to see from his telescope, were now at arm's reach. However, the joy of interstellar adventures could not mask his homesickness.
One day, Samuel fell ill due to lack of immunity against cosmic radiations. Liteo, a friendly alien medic from Aquarius Belt came to his rescue. But his condition was severe, beyond Liteo’s expertise. His longing for home grew day by day. He realised that his wish came with a sacrifice.
Samuel approached Galaxia with a heavy heart, asking to return home. Galaxia who was privy to human emotions felt his longing for home. Galaxia explained it hadn't told Sam about this condition due to lack of communication ways. It regretted its decision. Sorrowfully, it granted his wish, making him disappear from the spaceship and reappear in his room.
The room felt the same, as did the town, but he had transformed. He was no longer a naive boy, but a grown man who had traversed through space. His interstellar adventures turned into tales that Clareville found hard to believe, yet were intrigued and awestruck. Samuel was greeted with a mixture of bewilderment and admiration. Despite the skepticism, Samuel insisted on the truth of his journeys.
His parents noticed the change in him. They heard the longing in his voice when he narred the alien realms and the sparkle in his eyes when he emphasized on a new constellation his folks were oblivious of, an explorer’s glory. Seeing his passion, they sent him to the Space Explorer Academy to study space more intensely, where his extraordinary knowledge captivated everyone.
After rigorous training, Samuel did become an astronaut, working for interstellar peace and bond among galaxies. He never encountered Galaxia again but always remembered the promise he made to himself. A promise to always love, value, and respect his home while exploring new ones, to protect the azure jewel known as Earth while venturing the infinite jewels of the universe.
It's true Samuel's dreams were fantastical and the journey was difficult and lonely. But the promise of another tomorrow kept him moving, bound to the adoration and respect he had for the celestial bodies, and an even higher respect for the planet he called home.
