The Orb of Prophecy
Once upon a time, in the heart of the magnificent kingdom of Alaria, lay an enchanting little town called Eridu. This town was renowned not for its splendid scenery or bountiful harvest, but for a mysterious artifact known as the Orb of Prophecy. This orb was no ordinary sphere; it was said to possess all-encompassing power. It was an object of deep fascination and burning curiosity that attracted scholars and adventurers alike.
This arcane orb was guarded diligently by an elderly and wise woman named Ada. Ada was the only person in Eridu or even the whole of Alaria who could interact with the orb and understand its cryptic language. Hence, it was Ada's duty to interpret the orb's prophecies to the townsfolk and beyond.
One day, a young and ambitious scholar from the grand city of Ilton arrived in Eridu. His name was Oswald. He had heard fascinating tales about the orb and its mysterious powers, and he was determined to become the next guardian and interpreter of the orb's prophecies.
However, Ada was not convinced by Oswald’s youthful zeal and warned him about the orb’s intricate nature and the great responsibility it carried. Yet, Oswald was unfaltering. He was willing to commit himself to complete the Orb's stringent trial - The Trial of Perception.
The Trial of Perception was a legendary trial that tested an individual's wisdom, resilience, and profound insight. The trial comprised several riddles woven into the fabric of reality and required the seeker to unravel the mysteries without any guidance.
Unfazed, Oswald plunged into the trial with all his might. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, but Oswald bravely battled through the hindrances and gradually unwrapped the tangled enigma.
One night, Oswald encountered the final riddle - it was the final barrier that separated him from the Orb of Prophecy. He found himself in an ethereal dimension, facing an ancient, towering tree. The tree whispered a riddle, “What runs but never walks, murmurs but never talks, has a bed but never sleeps, has a mouth but never eats?”
This riddle left Oswald contemplating for days. But after prolonged contemplation, the answer dawned upon him: A River.
Impressed by his wisdom, the ancient tree granted Oswald the power to perceive the Orb of Prophecy. He returned to the town, where he was greeted with thunderous applause and cheer. Ada, with a sigh of relief and a stream of tears, passed on the guardianship to Oswald.
From then onwards, Oswald bore the mantle of the guardian of the Orb of Prophecy. He was not just a scholar anymore; he was the one chosen by the Orb itself. Although it wasn't an easy journey, Oswald's resilience and wisdom had led him to his destination.
But little did he know, his new journey was just beginning, he was now the Guardian of the Orb, and his duty was to help shape the destiny of Alaria and beyond.
And thus, the story of the Orb of Prophecy continues, weaved in the annals of time, affecting the lives of the people of Alaria one prophecy at a time
