The Odyssey of Time
Once upon a time, in the microscopic town of Tetra, the people lived in harmony with nature. There existed a peculiar but enthralling tradition, a tradition endowed by their ancestors—the tradition of Time Keeping. Unlike the imaginable fashion in which one would keep track of time, the people of Tetra possessed the power to trap physical time into radiant crystalline formations known as the Clock Crystals. These Clock Crystals enabled the holder to revisit their past moments. Tetra was indeed a town outside the normal fabric of time.
In the heart of this town, lived an intense and curious young boy named Theo. Apart from his natural curiosity for everything, his deepest fascination lay in exploring the enigma that was the Clock Crystals. Theo's father, Gallen, was the Time Keeper of Tetra—the guardian of Clock Crystals.
One day, Gallen planned a trip to the mountain base for procuring rare minerals essential for forming the Clock Crystals. Intriguingly, this trip was the historic 'Time Pilgrimage' made by the Time Keeper once every decade. Theo, like any other child in Tetra, was always thrilled to hear stories of the Time Pilgrimage. Emulating his father's way, intricate images of exotic mountains, treacherous trails, and the tension of making a grand discovery held him captive.
Capitalizing on this chance, he secretly followed his father on the pilgrimage. Unmindful about the young stowaway, Gallen began his ancient Time Chant. As the chant echoed into the cave, suddenly, the cave was aglow with radiant light illuminating from the Clock Crystals. Theo, hidden behind the cave stones, was awestruck by the picturesque spectacle in front of his eyes.
During the chant, a gigantic Time Portal suddenly appeared. From the teachings embedded in him by Gallen, Theo knew of the Time Portal tales but never expected to encounter one himself. Stepping into the span of time and space was forbidden. Despite the stories and warnings, the lure of the Time Portal and his teenage curiosity proved too powerful to resist for Theo.
Taking a deep breath, he hurled himself into the swirl, instantly enveloped by the spirited winds of time. Nervously opening his eyes, he found himself in familiar surroundings—the town of Tetrai but not as he knew it. His heart pounded as he saw his younger self playing in the field with his friends, a moment he had once wished he could revisit.
Attempting to undo his impulsive action, he tried reentering the portal; alas, it had vanished. He was trapped in time. Here, he was merely an invisible entity—unable to interact with the past, left only with the power to observe events that had culminated his present.
Over days, witnessing his mistakes and lost opportunities, he discovered the enormity of his impulse. Each day, he longed to return, helplessly watching his past self evolve.
Time, however, was moving in Tetra at its original pace. Gallen, returning from the pilgrimage, found Theo's room vacant. A sudden rush of dread surrounded him. Latching onto a silent prayer, he connected the dots and rushed to the cave, only to find the Time Portal flickering ominously.
Apprehending his son's plight, he leaped into the Time Portal, which led him to the trapped Theo. The joy in Theo's eyes on seeing his father unveiled a newfound maturity. Gallen extended his hand, whispering the ancient mantra, and together they stepped back into their present timeline.
Theo, battle-torn by his silly act, held his tear-soaked face in his hands. Taking a deep sigh of relief, Gallen offered a semblance of a smile, comforting Theo. Over time, Theo transformed from an impulsive adolescent to a responsible individual. To this day, the people of Tetra narrate the tale of Theo's Brave Encounter with time and his subsequent transformation as a tale to remember the power and responsibility that comes with time.
The odyssey of Theo marked a significant shift in Tetra's history. Immersed in the painful awareness of the paradoxical nature of the Clock Crystals, the town of Tetra gave up the tradition of Time Keeping altogether. The tale of Theo served as a daily reminder that while the past holds lessons, the future brings opportunities, and the present is the only real moment to live and cherish.
