The Mystic Evergreen Elm of Gothic Village

Once upon a time, nestled in the heart of a serene forest, a fabled village named Gothic resided. This quaint town was known throughout the lands for their mystical Evergreen Elm, a tree of legend that was believed to have the power to grant a single wish to a pure-hearted person once every hundred years.
Around the time the story begins, the Evergreen Elm was nearing its one hundredth year. The villagers were in a state of keen anticipation and bubbling excitement. Although the tree remained enigmatic and unresponsive during the last century, the villagers hoped that this time someone would be blessed with their heart's desire.
In that quaint little village lived a jovial lad of fifteen named Elio. He was amiable, blessed with an innocent heart and a contagious laughter, but he was also known for his mischievous nature. Unlike his fellow villagers obsessed with the legend, Elio laughed it off as a fantasy tale but had a secret yearning deep inside his heart. His mother was afflicted with a rare, incurable disease, and he wanted nothing more than to see her healthy again.
On the day the Evergreen Elm was to supposedly grant a wish, the villagers gathered around the majestically towering tree. Everyone prayed fervently: the blacksmith for immense strength, the confectioner for a never-ending supply of sweets, and the fisherman for a net that never returned empty. Amidst the fervor, Elio stood before the tree, his eyes welling with hope, his single wish dedicated to his ailing mother.
As night fell, the Evergreen Elm started to glow in an otherworldly hue, enveloping the whole place in its divine radiance. A tantalizing silence spread across the village. To everyone's surprise, the Elm's glow intensified towards Elio, who was kneeling, eyes shut tightly. It wasn’t greed that emanated from him, but an unselfish prayer for his beloved mother.
With a resounding echo, the light from the Elm burst outward, its power rocking the wooden frames of the houses. As quickly as it happened, it stopped. The villagers stood silent, mouths agape, as the glow settled upon one being alone – Elio.
Early next morning, Elio rushed home anxiously. To his utter disbelief, his mother was up, smiling, and her eyes twinkling with life – she was cured! Word quickly spread, and it was agreed that the Elm had indeed granted its magical boon to Elio for his unselfish wish.
With his mother restored, the happiness in Elio’s heart knew no bounds. He spent his days running round the village, his laughter making a dramatic comeback, echoing through the woods around Gothic Village. Though the other villagers were initially jealous of Elio's good fortune, they soon realized the beauty of his unselfish wish and acknowledged the wisdom of the Evergreen Elm.
And so, the Evergreen Elm continued to stand tall and majestic in the village, a symbol of purity, kindness, and selflessness, only to carve out another story after a hundred years.
