The Mirage of the Lost City
Once upon a time in the arid plains of the Arabian Peninsula, there existed an ancient tale of a hidden city lost in the dunes for centuries, known only as the 'Mirage City'. The city was said to be encrusted with precious jewels and populated by unseen beings. It had always been a subject of intrigue and wonder amongst the local tribes.
A fearless young man named Kedar was renowned for his courage and adventurous spirit. Kedar was curious about the tales revolving the lost city and decided to embark upon the seemingly impossible journey to discover the Mirage City. He bid his family and friends goodbye, promising to return with incredible stories from the lost city.
Kedar ventured into the unforgiving desert, guided only by the whispers of the wind and the tales passed down generations. The sun was merciless, the dunes endless, and the nights freezing, but Kedar's spirit was unbreakable.
One unforgiving night, a blinding sandstorm erupted. Kedar managed to find refuge in a small cave. As he huddled, the storm revealed an ancient well inside the cave, its mouth covered by years of sand deposits. An engraving of the same mirage city was etched on the well’s shoulder, which reaffirmed his hope of finding the city.
With the break of dawn, Kedar continued and survived days on dwindling supplies. Hope started to fade away until he saw something shimmer far into the distance. Gathering his last dregs of energy, he pursued the strange sight.
Suddenly, the sand under his feet felt different, like paved stones, and the dunes around him had structures carved into them. The shimmer became pronounced, and before him lay the magnificence of structures adorned with precious stones, rising and disappearing with the mirage. He had found the Mirage City.
The city was ethereally beautiful yet eerily quiet. The structures glistened like a mirage, blending between the real and the surreal. He found no beings but statues, perhaps made of a material that made them invisible in the sun, just like the hidden city. Kedar understood then, the city wasn't governed by inhabitants but the illusion of their existence.
In the heart of the city, he found a scroll made of ancient papyrus. It carried a prophecy of a mortal visiting, stating that on every moonless night, the city awakens, and the statues would come to life. Interested, Kedar decided to stay until the approaching moonless night.
The moonless night arrived, and the prophecy came true. The city sparkled with vibrant life. Beings of all shapes and sizes, invisible during the day, carried their life chores. Kedar was mesmerized by the spectacle. He spent the night watching, learning, and marvelling at the city.
As dawn arrived, the city returned to its stillness. Kedar, filled with awe and wonderment, decided to journey back to his tribe. He departed, leaving the mesmerizing city to its secrets, carrying with him the tale of a lifetime.
Upon his return, Kedar shared his extraordinary tale. His people listened with bated breath to the man who ventured the impossible and had lived to tell the tale. Through him, the story of the Mirage City came alive, and he became a legend in his land and amongst his people.
The story of Kedar and the Mirage City passed from one generation to another as an emblem of courage, curiosity, and the eternal allure of the unknown. The tale took on a life of its own, carrying the essential truth of the Mirage City- it existed not in a physical realm but in the hearts of those who dared to dream and explore.
