The Miracle of Marigold

Once upon a time, in a quaint little town named Marigold, life had a consistent rhythm. The heartening aura of the place could easily bewitch anyone into its tranquility.
Marigold resided in the nest of Mother Nature, nestled between the mighty mountains and surrounded by a pristine, sparkling lake. The town had one peculiar feature: a colossal, ancient oak tree, known as the Grand Oak.
The Grand Oak had been standing even before Marigold was formed. With its large and enchanting branches, it silently endured sunlight, rain, and snow, becoming an integral part of the town's history.
The people of Marigold loved the Grand Oak and believed it blessed their town. They treated the tree as divine, praying to it, tying their wishes around the branches, hoping for them to come true.
Among the residents was a little girl, named Lily. Lily was a sweet and adventurous child. She unquestionably believed in the power of the Grand Oak and was intrigued by the myths and legends related to it. Her biggest wish was to see the spirits of the tree that were said to be invisible to the human eye.
The legend said, 'To see the tree spirits, one needs to have a heart as pure as the morning dew.' Lily wondered what it meant, but she never found a conclusive answer.
One summer, something unusual happened. The once vibrant Grand Oak began to wither. Its healthy green leaves turned brown and began falling off, leaving the tree standing wizened and bare. The people attempted many remedies, but nothing could restore the tree to its prime health.
Meanwhile, Lily was heartbroken. She decided to save the Grand Oak at any cost. Impelled by her resolution, she started taking care of the tree. She watered it, removed the dead branches, caressed its bark, and even started sharing her thoughts with it, hoping to infuse life and energy into the feeble giant.
This continued for weeks until one blissful night when the full moon was high in the sky, bathing everything in a silvery glow. Lily was sitting by the tree, her heart filled with an intense yearning. She longed to see the tree spirits. Silently, she pleaded, 'Dear spirits, show yourself. Help me save the Grand Oak.'
Miraculously, under the moonlight, shimmering figures appeared. They were the tree spirits. Lily's heart thumped with excitement and fear, but her awe outweighed her fear. The spirits informed her that the tree was dying due to a poison in its roots. They imparted their wisdom on how to extract the poison and revive the tree.
With help from the villagers, Lily implemented the given instructions. It seemed like an eternity, but with time, the Grand Oak regained its life. It stood in splendor, and the spirits, having fulfilled their goal, disappeared, leaving a shimmering path in their wake.
Lily, cheered by the villagers, savored her victory – she had saved the Grand Oak. But, deep down, she knew it was her pure love and unwavering belief in the power of nature that invited the spirits, leading to the rejuvenation of the Grand Oak.
Nobody else in the town had seen the spirits, but they believed in Lily's story because the return of the tree’s vigor was nothing short of a miracle. This event in Marigold soon became part of the town's folklore, with Lily as the little girl who spoke with spirits and saved the Grand Oak.
