The Melody of the Forgotten Time

In the heart of an old city, there stood a majestic yet desolate building. This structure with its sun bleached bricks, crawling ivy and dust laden windows was the prestigious Melbourne Music Academy but the locals embraced it with the affectionate term 'The Old Conservatory'. At its prime, it was alive with the symphony of melodies but now it was abandoned, left alone with the echoes of the forgotten melodies that once thrived there.
However, the silence of the current era didn't grasp the Old Conservatory fully. There was a piano, aged by time, stained by use, but still housed an unequaled beauty, untouched by the decay of the building. Every night, at sharp twelve, it seemed to play itself - a haunting and soulful tune, which though melancholy was unbelievably beautiful, resonating in the empty halls of the derelict, defunct music academy. Locals named it 'The Ghost Sonata.'
No eyes had seen who played the Ghost Sonata until one rainy night, Meredith, a music scholar, determined to unravel the mystery, found shelter in the abandoned academy to escape the overwhelmed weather. As the clock gonged twelve, the forgotten piano sprung into life, same melancholy melody, same haunting notes.
However, Meredith saw an old man sitting grace on the piano stool, swaying rhythmically with each note he played. His translucent figure shimmered like the surface of a clear pool, drenched in moonlight. The old man's closed eyes were filled with raw emotion, and his wrinkled hands moved with an agile grace that seemed to come from a different period.
Intrigued by the spectacle, Meredith sought to learn his history. Diving into extensive research, she learned about maestro Alfredo Martelli, a virtuoso pianist, born in the late 1800s in Italy, who later moved to Melbourne to re-establish the dying academy. He experienced both love and adoration for music, which he thought to reflect in his masterpiece, known popularly as 'Alfredo's Sonata.' Heartbrokenly, he died tragically in a fire accident at the conservatory, after which the academy had been abandoned, tainted with the horrid memory of his untimely demise.
Realizing that the Ghost Sonata bore an uncanny resemblance to that of 'Alfredo's Sonata,' Meredith realized she was bearing witness to Alfredo's spirit, playing his beloved composition. Filled with reverence for the spirit and determination to honoring him, she started recording the melody and prepared herself to perform it at the Modern Music Symposium, a coveted platform for musicians.
Days turned into weeks, the symposium came, and the audience was held in nailed biting anticipation as Meredith announced to perform the Ghost Sonata of the Old Conservatory. She spoke about the maestro Alfredo and his undying love for music. Meredith was not merely playing a composition; she was narrating a story, transcending time and space, igniting an old spirit's love for music.
As the last notes of the Ghost Sonata dwindled, the hall erupted in roaring applause. The local legend had made its way to worldwide fame, all while reviving the life and love of a forgotten maestro - Alfredo Martelli.
Post-event, the defunct Old Conservatory was re-established with new vigor, named 'The Martelli Music Academy' after the lost master, breathing life into its dying soul. Back in the city, the Ghost Sonata was never heard again, but some say the spirit of Alfredo was finally at rest, his masterpiece is known, and his love for music once again alive amongst the living.
