The Lost Key of Time

Once upon a time, in a world where magic presided over scientific law, there existed a small but robust kingdom named Moroa. This kingdom was unique because time did not pass there in a linear fashion; instead, the inhabitants could travel through time with the aid of a mystical object known as the Key of Time.
The Key of Time was a precious heirloom passed down through generations of Moroa's royal lineage. It was a golden key, adorned with intricate engravings that symbolised the cosmos' eternal dance. The key did not open any physical lock but opened portals across time. Guardians of the key possessed the divine capability to travel to any moment, past or future, and intervene in the natural course of events if necessary.
The incumbent keymaster and ruler of Moroa, King Cedrick, was a wise and judicious sovereign. He used the key sparingly, only in dire times of peril. For he knew from his ancestors that frequent meddling with time could invite unpredictable consequences.
One day, the Key of Time vanished from the castle without a trace. King Cedrick was taken aback. He sent his best detectives to investigate this strange occurrence, but even they were perplexed by the key's inexplicable disappearance. The clock in Moroa had resumed ticking linearly, and people were alarmed. The disappearance of the key meant they were trapped in the present, not knowing what would occur in the next moment.
King Cedrick was equally concerned, but he remained calm and reassured his subjects that he would find a way to recover the lost Key of Time. Simultaneously, he devised a plan to stabilise the escalating dread that was spreading throughout his kingdom. He executed emergency policies to maintain peace and order among the people, who were petrified by the sudden concept of a continuous and uncertain future.
While the kingdom was in distress, a young blacksmith named Arvid found a peculiar object in his forge, which somehow resembled the drawings of the Key of Time he had seen in old texts. Arvid was a brave and honest man, curious and wise beyond his years. He decided to examine the mysterious key, suspecting it must be more than just an ornamental artefact.
Remembering what he had read about the key's powers in the chronicles, he held the key and wished to travel back to the time when the key was not lost. Suddenly, he found himself standing in the royal court, witnessing the key disappear from its place in the blink of an eye. He realised he had travelled back in time using the key.
From his hiding place, he saw a hooded figure, an erstwhile royal advisor, steal the key out of jealousy and ambition. The advisor was infamous for his scheming nature and had been banished from Moroa for his dangerous aspirations. He had stolen the key to disrupt Moroa's time balance and create chaos, intending to return and seize power amidst the confusion.
Recalling his timeline, Arvid swiftly travelled back to his present, gripping the key tightly. He rushed to King Cedrick, narrating his astounding experience and revealing the true thief. Shocked and relieved simultaneously, the King thanked Arvid profusely and rewarded him with high honour. Moroa's timeline was restored, and the citizens once again lived peacefully in their unique time perception.
The tale of Arvid's courage and cleverness became a legend across Moroa. His story served as a reminder to generations that evil could not prevail for long and that sincerity and intelligence were the real keys to victory. Arvid, the blacksmith-turned-hero, became a timeless figure in Moroa's history, forever etched in the kingdom's annals of bravery and honesty.
