The Lost City of Zihna

In the land of endless sands and burning sun, known as the Scorchlands, there existed a tale. The tale was of an ancient, vanished city named 'Zihna' that was said to be a storehouse of immense wealth and enigmatic riddles. Many treasure hunters and puzzlers had ventured into the vast desert, drawn by the allure of Zihna, but seldom had any returned. Those who did, spoke of an invisible barrier and deadly sandstorms that drove them away.
Far away, in a small, remote village lived a young man named Tahn. Brave and ambitious, Tahn wasn’t someone who would be content working as a trinket maker, which his family had been for generations. He dreamt of something bigger, something sensational. The tales of Zihna were his obsession, something he had been cultivating since his childhood. He believed that he could locate Zihna; he could taste the unresolved mystery and touch the untouched treasure. With the village elder's blessings, Tahn set off on a journey, carrying only a nostalgic map and unwavering hope in his heart.
As Tahn ventured deeper into the scorching desert, the mercifully flat and seemingly infinite climate challenged his body, mind, and spirit. Thirst tormented his days, scorching heat transformed into bone-chilling cold in nights, but the thought of Zihna kept his determination unwavered. He was suspended between the endless dome of sunblasted blue above and a vast expanse of shimmering golden sand below.
Days flipped into weeks, the blazing sun into the star-studded night but the desolate desert displayed no sign of the lost city. Just when despair was about to consume Tahn, his keen eyes caught sight of an unusual formation of sand dunes. With renewed vigor, he followed the peculiar trail which finally led him to a peculiar sight - a smooth wall of sand standing riotously in the middle of the desert. Remembering the tales of the invisible barrier, Tahn cautiously approached the wall.
With bated breath, he touched the wall, expecting a hard surface, but, instead, his hand sank into the sand. A razor-sharp thrill raced through his veins. Mustering all his courage, he plunged into the barrier. He was engulfed by a whirlwind of sand, but he pressed on, driven by his relentless determination.
What he found on the other side left him awe-stricken. An impeccable city emerged from the golden sandstone walls, bathed in the red glow of the setting sun. Grand arches, stunning towers, intricate carvings – the city was every bit as glorious as the tales told. Etching the first sight of Zihna onto his heart, Tahn ventured further into the city.
Zihna was not merely a city, it was a cryptic enigma waiting to be unraveled. The city was laced with numerous strange symbols, bewildering puzzles, and intricate lock mechanisms. While the distractions were plenty, Tahn was singularly focused. He knew the treasure of Zihna would be hidden in the heart of the city protected by the most complex puzzle. He zeroed in on the largest central tower, assuming it to be the heart of the city.
The tower was sheltered behind a massive gate adorned with perplexing symbols. Tahn recognized the symbols from his precious map and configured it. With a thundering sound, the gate uncloaked, revealing a spiraling staircase leading to the obscurity above. His heart heavy with anticipation, he climbed up. Each step was a leap of faith against the worn-out map and enigmatic city.
At the top of the tower, he was welcomed by a gigantic door, above which was etched a riddle. It was a test of wisdom. Wiping away the sweat on his brows, he pondered. Moments flicked into hours, but his unfazed concentration finally bore fruit and he solved the riddle. As the door creaked open, the most grandeur sight unfolded. The room was ablaze in the muted light of the setting sun, reflecting off an ocean of gold coins, magnificent crowns, precious gemstones, and ancient artefacts.
Tahn was not just thrilled by the sight of the immeasurable treasure but was contented for achieving what seemed impossible. Zihna was no longer a lost city. His relentless spirit and unwavering hope had led him to victory and his name would be embossed in the pages of endless tales.
