The Lost City of Evermore
Once upon a time in the realm of Eldoria, where humans, elves, and dwarves lived in harmony, the land was dominated by the majestic city Evermore. It was renowned for its towering spires, gleaming silver streets, and captivating beauty. But the city was also notorious for its disappearance, fading into myths and legends. I will recount the fabled rise and fall of Evermore.
Evermore's inception dates back to the Age of Unity when the realms of humans, elves, and dwarves had united to confront a frightening behemoth named Gorgath. The beast wreaked havoc upon their lands, incinerating villages, withering crops, and causing widespread fear. The united armies, led by three prominent leaders, Elf-Queen Lythien, Dwarf King Thoren, and the human King Arthur, repelled Gorgath, restoring peace in Eldoria. To honor their unity, they constructed Evermore, symbolizing unity and resilience.
Evermore was an architectural marvel. Massive spires touched the sky, fashioned from elfin crystal and dwarfish metals. The city court featured a motif of the three races, highlighting their strengths and virtues. Its booming markets were filled with the finest elfin wine, dwarfish metals, human spices, and more. However, the city's crowning glory was its central Citadel, a testament to the unity. It was in this Citadel, a council of representatives from all races convened, governing Eldoria.
Lythien, Thoren, and Arthur, realising the strength in unity, established the Timeless Code, ensuring all races had equal say in matters concerning Eldoria. Years passed in serenity, prosperity blessed the land and the unity between races strengthened. The city of Evermore lived up to its name, standing firm and growing with each generation, a beacon of unity and hope.
However, this harmony didn't last forever. Power corrupted some, turning kin against kin. The Human representative, Lord Blackwood sought sovereignty over Eldoria. Influenced by an ancient curse, he turned rogue, trying to overtake Evermore, and through it, all Eldoria.
With a host of followers, Blackwood stormed the Citadel. A great battle ensued on the silver streets of Evermore. Elves, Dwarves, and humans who stayed loyal to the Timeless Code, defended their city desperately. The battle pushed Evermore to its brink, but the defenders proved resilient.
Just as hope was dwindling, in a dramatic turn of events, a united front of Elves, Humans, and Dwarves, led by an unlikely hero, Arien, a mere footsoldier, drove Blackwood and his followers away. But not before Blackwood, in his fury, invoked the ancient curse and the city started fading away.
Arien, a descendant of Arthur, found in him the courage and wisdom of his ancestor. He confronted Blackwood at the heart of the city. A heart-wrenching duel followed, culminating in Arien striking Blackwood down. Yet, the city continued to fade.
Utilizing mysterious gemstones known as Soul Crystals, Elf-Queen Lythien performed an ancient ritual to stabilize Evermore. But it was in vain; the city continued its descent into oblivion. In the ultimate act of sacrifice, Arien joined the ritual, giving his life-force to save Evermore. His selfless act broke the curse. However, it was too late to salvage the entire city.
Evermore, now only a shadow of its former glory, disappeared before the eyes of the Eldoria, its gleaming spires and silver streets fading away. Yet, it wasn't completely lost. A portion of the city, where the Citadel stood, stayed visible, a monument to mark its past glory, braveness, and the sacrifice of a valiant hero.
Today, Evermore is spoken of in hushed tones, its legend passed on through generations. An enduring reminder of the unity that had once existed and the lengths that individuals would go to protect it. Yet, unity survives, and perhaps one day, Evermore may find its way back to Eldoria, from the realm of whispers and echoes.
