The Lost City of Alara

Once upon a time, in a land forgotten by time, lay the specter of a city named Alara. Alara was no ordinary city. Rumors whispered of its legendary riches, ancient wisdom, and mystical beings. This magical tale is wrapped in valor, mystery, and a quest for the lost city of Alara.
Our tale's hero is a young shepherd named Aram, living in a humble village on the foothills of the Mount Zephyr. Aram was a daydreamer, his heart always pulled towards the unimaginable, beyond the simple tasks of herding sheep. He would spend hours gazing at the horizon, where the peak of Mount Zephyr disappeared into the clouds, said to be the dwelling of the lost city.
One stormy night, an old man took shelter in Aram's hut. Bedraggled and worn, he introduced himself as Cato, an explorer. He was on a quest to find Alara and was thrilled to meet Aram. Recognizing the same longing in the young shepherd’s eyes that reflected in his own, he gifted Aram an ornate compass pointing mysteriously towards Mount Zephyr.
A sudden compulsion drew Aram towards the quest. He bid his old life adieu and trailed towards the mountain with the mystical compass and Cato’s stories as his guide. His journey was grueling, tracing dangerous paths through dark, dense forests, crossing wild rivers, facing menacing beasts, but fortunately, he was able to outwit every ordeal that tested his courage and perseverance.
Nearly starved and exhausted, Aram reached the snowy peaks of the mountain. Following the compass, he discovered a hidden entrance into the mountain, leading to a tunnel. The tunnel was dark and damp, enhancing his melancholy, but the flame of hope kept him going.
Finally, he emerged into light, so blinding that Aram had to shield his eyes for the briefest moments. As his vision adjusted, he stared, agape, taking in a sight beyond belief. A city, more beautiful than he had imagined, with majestic towers of gold and precious gems, streets of marble, gardens composed of unheard flowers, under a sky filled with colors he couldn’t name - Alara in all its glory.
Cato’s descriptions couldn’t do justice to the city’s splendor. It housed astounding creatures, and intelligent beings Aram had never seen before. Harmonious music flowed through the city, and wisdom oozed from every corner. A sense of euphoria washed over him.
The natives of Alara were welcoming. Speaking an unusual language, they soon taught Aram their tongue and introduced the rich culture, traditions, and secrets the city held, providing him with more intimate knowledge about Alara’s greatness. The city's aura made him feel a part of something extraordinary.
Aram also met Alara's wise oracle, who imparted profound wisdom and ancient knowledge that was stored within the city. He spent many months learning the city's ancient secrets, its magic and culture, and the art of peaceful living.
However, paradise too finds its end, and so did Aram’s journey in Alara. The wise oracle revealed that the city was about to be swallowed by a storm of time that would erase its existence for the next thousand years. Aram had only a scant few days before he had to leave.
Heartbroken but resolved, Aram used his remaining time wisely. He absorbed as much knowledge he could and bid his final adieu to Alara. As he left, the oracle bestowed upon him a mystical artifact, stating it as a piece of Alara’s soul.
Back to his humble village, he was seen as a visionary. Aram used his learned wisdom to enrich his village and its surrounding, teaching them the art of peaceful living. He utilized the artifact to create miracles, bringing prosperity to his land.
The tale of the shepherd boy who became the beacon of wisdom and peace traveled far. The legacy fitted a king better than a shepherd, however, and he always remained ‘Aram, the Shepherd’.
Alara lived through the hearts of Aram and the people of his village. The city disappeared, as the oracle predicted, but its soul echoed in every tale of Aram's remarkable journey. Each telling enfleshed Alara anew in the minds and hearts of those who heard its story, making it immortal, never lost, and forever found.
