The Lost Atlantis: The City of Everlasting Sunlight

Long, long ago, surrounded by the shimmering sapphire waters of the Atlantic Ocean, was the city of Atlantis. It was an ancient city of unimaginable beauty and riches, glistening beneath the perpetually bright sky. Its greatness reached the farthest corners of the earth, and it was named 'The City of Everlasting Sunlight.' The tale of its glory and its eventual disappearance remains one of the most mysterious puzzles in history.
The city was said to be the creation of Poseidon, the god of the sea, who had fallen deeply in love with a mortal woman named Cleito. To protect her, Poseidon erected enormous barriers of cliffs around her dwelling, ultimately shaping what people came to know as the city of Atlantis.
The people of Atlantis were not ordinary folks, but descendants of divine beings. Their uncanny wisdom, courage, and strength came from Poseidon himself, who blessed them with an idealistic society of harmony and prosperity. Besides the natural resources bestowed upon them, they had also discovered a mystical metal - 'Orichalcos,' a metal more precious than gold, which emitted a strange, ethereal light. This, when mated with their superior technical knowledge, allowed them to construct architectural marvels, advanced machinery, and it was this light from Orichalcos that led Atlantis to be known as 'The City of Everlasting Sunlight'.
Life in Atlantis was almost Utopian. Divided into ten kingdoms, which were each ruled by a king, the son of Poseidon. They lived in peace, followed laws inscribed in a pillar of Orichalcos in the Temple of Poseidon. They grew wise from the many scrolls in the grand library, became strong in athletic stadiums and enjoyed festivities in amphitheaters.
One day, disaster struck, as a darkness shrouded the city. A mighty breeze howled, as the waters started rising, swallowing everything in their path. The City of Everlasting Sunlight was about to face the wrath of the sea. Suddenly, a resounding, deafening noise echoed. The beautiful city quaked, and the once gloriously bright city was cast into darkness as clouds blotted out the Sun.
In the midst of the crisis, the people of Atlantis held onto each other, praying to Poseidon to end this catastrophe. All through the night, the earth shook, the winds bellowed, and the sea roared. By dawn, the shaking subsided, the wind hushed, and all fell eerily silent.
When the survivors emerged, they found that their magnificent city had vanished. The grand palaces, the mighty walls, the pillars of gleaming Orichalcos, everything was consumed by the merciless sea. Only a few islands remained as a grim reminder of the splendor that once was the city of Atlantis.
For days, they searched, hoping against hope that some vestige of their beautiful city remained. But all there was, was the vast, infinite sea. Atlantis, the City of Everlasting Sunlight, was lost. The world gradually forgot about its existence, and it became a stuff of folklore, with its grandeur and glory alive only in tales and fables.
Yet, every sailor venturing into the Atlantic would look out into the water, imagining the city that lay beneath, hoping to catch a glimpse of the City of Everlasting Sunlight. For the city was lost but not forgotten. Even now, the mystery of the lost Atlantis triggers curiosity and continues to elicit fascination, with explorers and philosophers alike prioritizing this enigmatic city, the legend of which would continue to live on.
And to this day, when the noon sun shines brightest over the Atlantic, there are some who say they see a shining light, glinting from deep within the ocean's blue depths - a decided hint of Orichalcos, casting a brilliant sheen on the water's surface. The city may be lost to time, but the glow of Atlantis, the City of Everlasting Sunlight, they say, can never truly disappear.
