The Light of Elerdor
Once upon a time, in the serene village of Elerdor, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main city, grew a virtuous maiden by name Althea. She lived there with her loving family in a quaint old cottage surrounded by age-old woods and chirping birds. Althea, blessed with radiant aqua eyes and a voice that echoed sweetness, was the heart of Elerdor. Yet, her beauty was nothing compared to her kindness.
Each morning, Althea would be found in the village garden, nurturing blooming blossoms, or among the village children, telling tales of valor and chivalry. However, her favorite activity was singing to the birds perched on the oak tree next to her cottage.
Despite the peace and tranquility of her surroundings, Althea yearned for adventure. She would often dream of exploring the ancient castle rumored to be hidden deep within the forest surrounding their village. The castle, referred to in hushed whispers by the villages’ elderly folk, was said to be the previous home of the great old king of Elerdor who vanished mysteriously with his vast treasures.
One day, muster up courage, Althea set out to discover the castle and its hidden treasure. She left early morning with a satchel containing a loaf of bread, a flask of honey, and a small dagger gifted to her by her brother, for safety. Her heart was full of excitement and a little fear, as she embarked upon her secret adventure.
The journey through the woods was arduous. Althea encountered creepy crawlies, irritable bushes, and ominous sounds. Nonetheless, she pressed on, reminding herself of tales of courage she used to narrate to the village children. After what seemed like an eternity, Althea finally reached the ruins of the ancient castle.
The castle was eerie with an isolated ambiance. Carefully, she stepped into the crumbling structure. Within the castle laid a labyrinth of passageways that seemed as though they would consume her, yet she soldiered on.
After navigating her way through a series of deceptive twists and turns, Althea finally arrived in the heart of the castle - a grand chamber that held the legendary king's throne. As her eyes slid over to the throne, they settled on a golden chalice gleaming under the dim torchlight.
Upon examining the chalice, Althea discovered small ancient symbols engraved on its sides. Being a connoisseur of ancient texts, she deciphered a verse that revealed the location of the lost treasure. However, the verse warned that the treasure could only be claimed by one 'with a heart of love and a voice of purity'.
Remembering the old tales about the power of love and prayers, Althea sang a melodic tune under her breath. To her surprise and delight, the chamber vibrated with her song, and a hidden door in the rock walls slid open. There, she found the treasure of the ancient king, shining so brightly that it illuminated the entire room.
Filled with ecstasy yet humbled by the experience, Althea decided to use the treasure for the betterment of Elerdor. She returned home as a hero.
