The Life Star

Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, there lived a humble baker named Samuel. Samuel was soft-hearted and hardworking, spending the majority of his time baking breads and pies for the townsfolk. He often went out of his way to help others and was particularly kind to those who were less fortunate.
One winter night, as Samuel was nearing the end of his workday, he saw a sudden bright flash in the sky. It was a falling star, burning fiery red and gold, descending into the nearby woods. Moved by curiosity, he decided to explore, wanting to witness the fallen celestial body.
In the heart of the woods, he found the star nestled amongst the thick leaves and undergrowth. It was not just a simple star but a gleaming gem that resonated with ethereal charm. Cautiously picking it up, he noticed an inscription that read, 'The Life Star.'
The next day, he visited a renowned scholar in the town to know more about the gem. The scholar informed him that the 'Life Star' was an extremely powerful gem that could bestow bountiful fortune or disastrous misfortune on its holder depending upon their heart. The kindhearted Samuel, decided to keep the Life Star, promising to use it for the benefit of others rather than personal gain.
Soon word spread about Samuel's miraculous gem. The townsfolk began to visit him, seeking his assistance in their lives. Samuel willingly aided them, using the gem's powers to heal the sick, mend broken livelihoods, and provide comfort to the grieving.
However, the tale of the Life Star and its benevolent keeper caught the attention of the greedy king. He summoned Samuel and demanded possession of the gem. Samuel refused, stating he had promised to use it for the welfare of his people and not for selfish reasons. Angered, King ordered his imprisonment and seized the gem.
The King noticed colorful spectrum whenever he held the gem, captivated by its beauty, he ignored the scholar's warning of misfortune biding due to the misuse of the gem. Soon, the kingdom started experiencing disasters. Crops failed, locusts invaded the farms, and a merciless drought beset the land. The people suffered while King enjoyed the gem's beauty and refused to acknowledge the correlation.
Behind the bars, Samuel too noticed the worsening situation of the kingdom. He pleaded with the guards to take him to the king, promising to resolve the crisis. Seeing the kingdom's plight, the guards agreed and took him before the King.
Samuel proposed, 'Your highness, the Life Star is reacting to your insensitivity towards your people. It is not a mere trinket to be commanded but a living entity that responds to goodwill. Return it to me, and I promise your kingdom will be restored.'
Haughty but desperate, the king handed the gem back to Samuel. As Samuel held the gem, it radiated pure white light removing all the blight from the kingdom. With the return of the ordinary man's kindness, the kingdom found its prosperity.
From then onwards, Samuel, the humble keeper, held the gem and used its powers righteously, ensuring that his fellow townsfolk lived in peace and prosperity. The remaining days of his life, Samuel respectively held his title 'The keeper of Life Star' and served as a beacon of hope for humanity reminding them that genuine power lies not in being the strongest or the richest but in being kind and helpful.
