The Legend of the Well of Wishes

Let me share with you a unique fable, a tale that has passed down from generation to generation in a small town nestled within the verdant hills of Ireland, named Frothshire.
At the heart of Frothshire, there was a legendary spring known as the Well of Wishes. Anyone who tossed a coin into the well could make a wish, and it would percolate through the water and rise into the cosmos, resonating with the goodwill of the universe to make it come true. The well was well-known far and wide, and people from all walks of life would come to try their luck, hoping that their dreams would be woven into reality.
One year, a young couple, Roan and Liana, moved to Frothshire. Roan was a robust and industrious blacksmith, while Liana was a weaver of delicate fabrics, known for her mirthful heart and nimble fingers. They both hoped to fill their lives with happiness and prosperity in this new town.
Their life in the beginning was idyllic, but as years passed they still were childless. Frustration started to bud in the couple's heart. Liana would often find herself staring at the Well of Wishes from her window, her heart aching with the desire of a child. She'd whisper this wish into the coins before tossing it in, hoping her words would traverse the channels of magic to the ears of the universe.
One day, on their fifth anniversary, Roan presented Liana a coin, unlike the rest. It was made of pure gold, shimmering under the sunlight, engraved with the symbol of the weaver, a nod to Liana's craft. Liana, with twinkling eyes full of dreams, whispered her wish of longing into the coin and tossed it into the well.
Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, yet there was no sign of their wish being fulfilled. In the growing despair, Liana’s health began to fail, her body thinning and her spirit waning. Roan felt both helpless and desperate. He decided to do something unusual. He decided to empty the well, to find the golden coin, and see if they had done anything wrong.
Weeks of hard labour later, Roan earned the sigh of relief, as he found the golden coin none the worse for wear despite all the time it’d spent underwater! But when Roan looked closer, he noticed the symbol of the weaver was no longer there. Instead, there was a new symbol – that of a baby.
Confused and exhausted, Roan took the coin home, only to find Liana in a trance-like state. He rushed to her side, waking her up gently. When she opened her eyes, she was different. She was glowing.
She took Roan’s hands in hers, and whispered, “We’re expecting.”
The miracle of life unfolded in less than a span of a moon cycle. A healthy baby boy was born to Roan and Liana, who they fondly named Finn. From that day forward, happiness and prosperity looked like the golden coin that fulfilled their deepest desire, forever cherishing it as a symbol of a bond, love, and treasured wishes.
The story of Roan, Liana, and the golden wish coin added a new legend to the Well of Wishes. Though to outsiders it remained as it was, for Frothshire it was no longer just a well. It was a beacon of hope, a symbol of life's miraculous resilience, forever admired and worshipped by the town's people.
