The Legend of Sunken Whispers
In a quaint, secluded part of the world, a small seaside village known as Sirenia rested peacefully along the coastline. Rumors whispered amongst the villagers of a lavish city that existed beneath the blue abyss, the city, Tenebris.
The legend began with the villagers' ancestors; they believed that the city was once on the surface before a grand flood sank it beneath the waves. Amidst the mystery and beauty of the ocean was a terrifying beast named Abyssus, protector of the sunken city.
In Sirenia, a young boy named Thalass, raised by his old grandfather, had always been fascinated by the ocean's stories. His granddad, Captain Nereus, was a sailor who spent his life exploring the seven seas, seeking treasures hidden deep beneath unknown territories.
One day, Captain Nereus told Thalass a truth that had been passed through ages—whosoever dared to find Tenebris would gain riches beyond their wildest dreams. From that moment, Thalass was determined to find the mythical city, unaware of the dangers that lay ahead.
Few years later, Thalass sailed across the alluring blue sea. He held a cerulean gem, a relic from his grandfather, said to shimmer a deep blue when near Tenebris. Weeks turned into months, and the boy felt a pang of disappointment. One night, while hope was dwindling, the gem began flickering more vibrantly than it ever had.
Despite the pulsating gem, there was trouble. The peaceful whisper of the sea raged into havoc. Thalass was surrounded by an advancing wall of water, he held the gem tightly, whispering prayers. A colossal shadow emerged. Abyssus, the sea beast, rose from the depths, its piercing eyes fixated on Thalass. But the beast, to Thalass's surprise, did not attack him. Enthralled by the azure light emitting from the gem, Abyssus seemed to connect with it.
Mustering his courage, Thalass raised the gem towards Abyssus, speaking softly, 'I come to seek Tenebris.' To Thalass's astonishment, Abyssus seemed to understand him, its intimidating demeanor slowly shifting to something closely resembling affection. The beast, with a powerful swing of its tail, signaled Thalass to hold onto it.
And so, Thalass descended with Abyssus, feeling the pressure of the deep sea. The further he went, the brighter the gem shone, piercing through the dark waters and illuminating the world beneath. His heart pounded with fear and excitement as they finally arrived at an illuminated city. Tenebris. It was magnificent, even more, enchanting than the legends. Buildings crammed with elaborate trims of gold, once vibrant colors now faded and bleached by the corrosive saltwater.
Every turn revealed breath-taking sights—the cathedral, the marketplace, and the royal palace. In the palace, an enormous statue of a mermaid holding a similar gem to Thalass’s drew his attention. In an impulse, Thalass placed his gem next to the statue's gem, triggering a wave of light, followed by the city rumbling and shifting.
Slowly, Tenebris began to rise as a solidified bubble formed around the city, raising it to the surface. The city floated, trapped in its bubble in the midst of the ocean, a beacon of gold in a sea of blue.
Once the villagers of Sirenia saw the city, they were in awe. Tenebris, the city of legends, now rose for the world to see. Thalass had indeed uncovered the immense wealth of Tenebris but realised the city itself was the true treasure. Teeming with history, mystery, and a story of its own, the sunken city had a charm which couldn't be priced.
Thalass, the boy who dreamed, became a legend who made a myth reality. Tenebris was treated as a historical site, its treasures left undisturbed as a sign of respect for the past. The boy and the beast's unexpected friendship became a fable in itself, teaching villagers that courage, respect, and friendship are the truest treasures.
It's said Abyssus still protects Tenebris, and Thalass became the guardian on land, ensuring no harm befell the city. The boy who loved the sea and the ocean-beast had made an inseparable connection, and together they continued to guard the 'Legend Of Sunken Whisper'.
