The Legend of Prince Edric and the Wyvern

Once upon a time, in an era of knights and castles, there existed a small kingdom known as Verdigris. Verdigris was renowned for its lush greenery, rhythmic rivers, towering mountains, and a legendary creature, the Wyvern.
Verdigris was ruled by a kind-hearted King, Alaric. The king had a son; a gallant young Prince named Edric. Edric was brave, humble, and compassionate. He was loved by the people of Verdigris as much as his father. His exploits of courage and acts of kindness were often told as bedtime stories to the children of the kingdom.
In an unfortunate event, King Alaric fell gravely ill and was left bedridden. His health deteriorated with each passing day, and the kingdom was draped in the shadows of anguish and imminent calamity. The responsibility of the kingdom fell upon the young shoulders of Prince Edric.
One day, a wise old scholar named Erasmus arrived from the far-off enchanted Academy of Meraki. Revealing a forgotten prophecy, he explained that the legendary Wyvern, a benevolent creature, possessed the Flame of Zephyr, a miraculous flame carried in its breath that had the power to cure any aility known to mankind. However, this creature had not been seen for several generations, for it dwelled high atop Mt. Surya, the highest peak in Verdigris, surrounded by treacherous trails and fierce beasts.
Despite the danger, Prince Edric resolved to seek the Wyvern. Equipped with his father's sword, his will of steel, his resolve to save his father and kingdom, he embarked on his perilous journey.
The journey was fraught with harsh weather, treacherous landscapes, and predatory beasts. But his determination did not waver; he overcame every trial that nature, and his fears, threw at him. He helped those he met, militant dwarves, deceitful goblins, and lost pixies, alike, along his journey, believing in his father's mantra – 'Kindness will always find its way back to you.'
After several weeks, he reached the snow-clad peak of Mt. Surya. As prophesied, the Wyvern, a majestic creature with iridescent scales and wings that could shadow the mightiest of army, appeared before him. Recognizing the prince's courage and kindness, the Wyvern gifted him a shard of the Flame of Zephyr, secured in an ancient amulet, also warning him that the flame must return to its rightful place before the next new moon.
Edric thanked the Wyvern and raced back to Verdigris, battling the same tribulations that he had faced during his ascend. Upon his return, the amulet was placed near King Alaric. His illness halted, his strength returning slowly but steadily. Verdigris erupted in joy; the air filled with the tunes of lute, singing praises for their prince, who was now hailed as a hero.
However, the heart-warming moment was short-lived. Erasmus warned them that if the shard was not returned before the new moon, the Flame of Zephyr would extinguish, causing the Wyvern and its race to cease their existence. Prince Edric, much to his people's dismay, decided to return the shard, even though it risked King Alaric's life.
Upon his second return to Mt. Surya, the prince humbly returned the shard to the Wyvern. Acknowledging Edric's bravery and selflessness, the Wyvern, in his wisdom, granted the prince a final splash of the healing flame on his sword, which was enough to heal King Alaric completely.
His heroic act not only secured his father's life but also safeguarded an ancient and majestic creature's existence. And thus, the tale of Prince Edric's bravery and selflessness traversed far and wide, symbolizing courage, compassion, and the power of making the right choices.
