The Legend of Glass Castle
Once upon a time, nestled in the shadows of towering mountains, there existed the picturesque town of Reynaldia, a kingdom known as one of the last remaining havens of magic.
In Reynaldia, the rule of 'an eye for an eye' was strictly followed. Trust was a dwindling commodity, and people relied on the power of karma more than the enforcement of the law. No one dared to break this cycle of reciprocity, until a rogue sorcerer named Falgoth emerged.
Falgoth was known for his lust for power, represented by his insatiable desire for the ancient Crystal of Meridion, one of the profound sources of magical aura in Reynaldia, which was covered with a barrier. He made multiple attempts to break it but only failed miserably. Those failed attempts led to terrible calamities, draining the town of its happiness.
In contrast lived a humble, compassionate wizard named Eldrion. He was known for his wisdom and healing abilities. The townsfolk trusted him with their secrets, ailments, dreams, and hopes. Eldrion prided himself on using his power for the betterment of others rather than personal gain. As he watched Falgoth's destructive attempts, he decided to interfere.
Eldrion approached King Reynard, who agreed with Eldrion's proposal to protect the Crystal. Eldrion rested at the castle and started crafting a charm spell strong enough to resist Falgoth. He continuously worked for fifteen days and nights without pause, powered by his dedication to restoring peace.
In the meantime, a spy informed Falgoth about Eldrion's activities. Blinded by rage, Falgoth devised a deadly plan. He sent a poisonous serpent to kill Eldrion. The serpent struck Eldrion while he was conducting the final ritual of his charm spell. In the ensuing chaos, the charm spell exploded, turning everything within the castle into glass, suspending the time inside and creating the Glass Castle.
As news of Eldrion's death spread, the townsfolk mourned their beloved wizard. They labored to preserve his memory through stories, songs, and an annual ritual performed at the site of his death.
Meanwhile, the Glass Castle stood tall and aloof from the world beyond its shimmering walls, a testament to love, dedication, and sacrifice. The spell kept Falgoth at bay, but it also meant that Eldrion's last spell would never be completed. Reynaldia returned to its previous state, minus Eldrion's calming presence.
Centuries turned millennia, yet the Glass Castle remained unscathed. The Crystal of Meridion remained ever-protected in its icy fortress, untampered.
This gave rise to a legend, a prophecy: 'When Reynaldia's fate hangs by a thread, a hero will emerge from the shadows. He or she shall take Eldrion's place, penetrating the walls of the Glass Castle, successfully recasting the charm spell, and restoring the kingdom's harmony.
Who the person is, what powers they possess, and when they will arrive? Only time knows...
Every year when the annual ritual was conducted, young wizards and witches attempted to pass the Glass Castle's barrier, but none succeeded. With hopes of the legendary hero's arrival, Reynaldia bears its suffering, waiting for the day the spell gets completed, and peace can return.
This tale of Reynaldia tells us that true power doesn't stem from greed but from compassion, selflessness, and dedication towards the greater good.
