The Legacy of The Forgotten
In the city of Teloria, nestled between green-blue peaks, was an old library. Known for its magnificent architecture, tall dark mahogany shelves, and an amazing collection of books, scrolls, and maps from various eras. It was revered by locals and outsiders alike. Yet, it was the librarian, a keen, old man, Mr. Rigal, who filled the library with a peculiar charm.
Rigal was known more for his mysterious storerooms than his wisdom. Some claimed that he hid secret treasures there, while others whispered about the old librarian’s alleged magical powers. However, for Rigal, it was just a room full of forgotten stories. One day, a curious city scholar, Eli, decided to explore Rigal's storeroom.
Eli was a fast learner, thirsting for knowledge. His curiosity often led him to uncharted territories of wisdom and knowledge. Contrary to the other villagers, he saw the storeroom door not as a barrier but as an invitation. Emboldened by the desire to learn, he stepped inside the storeroom one day while Rigal was away.
As Eli adjusted his eyes to the dim light, he saw strange objects, books, and scrolls that seemed untouched by human hands for centuries, and an enormous, dusty globe. Eli cleaned the globe and realized it was the world map that he'd read about but was considered lost. He noticed a strangely glowing point on the map. His heart pounded as he leaned over to examine it. The point was labeled ‘The Isle of Forgotten tales.’
Upon Rigal's return, Eli couldn’t help but ask him about the island. Rigal, taken aback, eyed him carefully and began narrating the forgotten story of the 'Isle of Forgotten Tales'- an island said to exist a few centuries earlier. It was believed that once there lived a community of storytellers on the island. Every person on the island was born with a unique story etched on the canvas of their heart. Using a mystical feather, these folk brought their stories to life.
However, a wicked witch had once sieged the island, mesmerized by their talent. The island's inhabitants, to save their stories, removed them from their hearts. All those stories then turned into birds and flew away. All that was left was a deserted island, devoid of its one-time charm.
The witch, furious at failing to capture the stories, cursed the island to oblivion. From then on, people gradually forgot about the island and its enchanting stories. The stories-turned-birds eventually created an invisible sanctuary above the clouds.
Eli was enchanted by the tale. He expressed his desire to find this island as he believed those stories could bring hope and happiness to their city, which was lately consumed by sadness and despair. Rigal, seeing the determination in Eli's eyes, gave his blessings and offered him the globe.
Eli embarked on the arduous journey. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. He encountered treacherous terrains and perilous seas. He was often on the verge of giving up but each time, the gleaming point on the globe gave him hope. Eventually, his perseverance bore fruit. He gazed upon a desolate island with a tall mountain at its centre.
Following an intuitive nudge, Eli climbed the mountain peak and blew the wind horn, a magical device that Rigal had given him. Suddenly, the air around him whooshed and filled with multi-colored birds, singing in thousand languages. Eli, suddenly enlightened, realized that these were the story birds. He implored the birds to return with him to Teloria.
The birds agreed. As Eli and the cloud of story-birds returned to Teloria, they saw a city transformed. People, who were once overshadowed by despair, started smiling as they heard the magical stories from the articles these birds transformed into.
Eli had not just bought back lost tales of joy to his city, but had also revived the legacy of the forgotten. From then onwards, Teloria was known far and wide as The City of Tales.
Rigal lived long enough to see the city blooming with happiness again and passed on, leaving the legacy of the library and its treasures, to Eli. Forever remembered as the champions of lost tales, Rigal and Eli's legacy was imparted from generation to generation. Ironically, the legacy of 'the forgotten' was never forgotten again.
