The Last Starlight

At the turn of a new age, when artificial stars began to replace the natural ones, rose a young boy named Elian in the city of Solara. Solara was a city lit by literal stars, built by millionaires and billionaires who wanted to conquer the universe. Beneath the synthetic starlight, the city was a marvel that twirled the mind of any onlooker. Yet, for Elian, the artificial lights were a ghost echoing the beauty of the natural world he once knew.
Elian was an astronomer's son, born and brought up under the celestial dance of the cosmos. He had spent hours, head back, nostrils flaring with the chill of the night, observing the brilliant wonders scattered in the galaxy canvas. Then came the dark age, where everything celestial was replaced by the synthetic stars. Elian longed for the old days again, and thus commenced his journey back to the age of original luminary.
He started working in the star factory, the very place where the artificial stars were designed. The factory was a behemoth, dwarfing every other building. Its metallic framework vaguely reflected the synesthetic starlight like arteries of the colossal city illuminating the darkness. The workers wore silver suits, their robotic performances mirroring the nonorganic nature of their creations. Still, Elian toiled hopefully, learning every nut and bolt that weighed into the unlovely lusters.
One day, Elian's findings led him to a blueprint inked by the city mastermind, the legendary Isaac Zaroff. The blueprint was a puzzle, a complex network of calculations and secrets. With charcoal smudged fingertips, Elian discovered a clandestine method to harness the energy of a dying star. A realization hit him; the stars did not disappear but were forced into an unnatural slumber. This discovery burnt Elian's last shred of patience.
Through countless sleepless nights and meticulous calculations, Elian assembled a contraption mimicking the blueprint. It was a device of metal and mirrored glass, seeming as much of a celestial body as the stars. Elian aimed this device, now termed the 'Star Rekindler,' towards Orion's belt, where the giant red star Betelgeuse should have been present. Miraculously, a faint glow began to emerge from the location. As the machine whirred and hummed, channelling energy back towards Betelgeuse, the faint glow grew brighter.
The city of Solara woke up to find the artificial sky dipped in a singularly resplendent light. A spectacle such magnificent that it left everyone gasping, a brilliantly pulsating light that gave life to the vast stretches of the city, sunlight bounced off buildings, dousing Solara in a primal warmth. It was a star, a real star, brightening the world.
The people rallied, a revolution sparked in the hearts of many. This marked the return to the original celestial order, a beacon of hope for the few who remembered the true sky. Elian had done the impossible. He had undone the artificial hold of synthetic stars on the city and rekindled the natural light that once existed.
Years later, the city of Solara looked remarkably different. True moonlight bathed the buildings, natural stars sparkled brightly above, an everlasting memory of the boy who dared to navigate the universe. Elian was hailed a hero, his story told and retold in every corner of the city. However, to Elian, he was only a humble astronomer's son who loved stargazing.
And every night, under the celestial dance of the cosmos, Elian would exclaim, 'Look, those aren't bulbs or lasers. They are stars, actual stars!', his voice carrying a spark of the very light he taught his city to cherish again.
