The Last Song of the Earth

Long ago, in a time when society was simpler, and technology was the matter of science fiction, when humans whispered tales around the bonfire about the moon, stars, and beings in other realms, life on Earth was hued in tranquility and harmony.
There was a tribe known as the Merikans, and they lived a peaceful life in caves, close to the heart of nature. Theirs was a matriarchal society, where a woman known as the Priestess was the most revered figure. The priestess was not only their leader but also a messenger between them and the 'Divine Spirit'. She had the power of 'The Ancient Song,' a melody passed down through countless generations. The Song was known to maintain the balance between the Earth and the 'Other Realm', the realm of divine spirits.
One Priestess, Astra, was particularly mesmerizing. Born under the Northern Star, believed to be a blessed sign, Astra had a potent aura around her. Graceful, assertive, and empathetic, she was a natural leader, governing her tribe with wisdom and kindness.
Astra turned sixteen and it was time for her to receive 'The Ancient Song' from her dying grandmother. Unlike other songs, this was no mere arrangement of musical notes. It was a communication tool, a divine melody that had the power to resonate through realms, connect worlds, and echo through time. With the Song, the Priestess could summon benevolence from the spirits, ensuring prosperity and harmony for her people.
As per tradition, her grandmother sang 'The Ancient Song' to Astra in the secret chamber, endowed it upon her soul. It was a divine exchange, fearful and deeply spiritual. With this, Astra's reign as Priestess started. She thrived in her new role, sang the Song in the tranquil nights under the open sky, maintaining the balance between Humans, Earth, and the Other Realm.
Years rolled by, and the Merikans continued to prosper under Astra’s rule. However, one dark day, a malevolent spirit named 'Gargon' trespassed from the Other Realm, consumed by a lust for power. He had learned about 'The Ancient Song' and believed if he could gain control over it, he could manipulate the elements and become invincible.
Gargon's unprecedented invasion caused turmoil. Earthquakes shook land; thunderstorms and hurricane winds ripped through the tribe’s dwelling. Astra, realizing the balance was tilting, ventured out to confront Gargon.
A fierce battle ensued between Astra and Gargon where earth, wind, fire, and water were their weapons. Yet, Gargon being an immortal spirit, the struggle seemed futile. Astra, understanding the stark reality, knew she had one final weapon - The Ancient Song.
Summoning her strength, Astra sang with the powerful and unwavering voice. The Other Realm vibrated, notes resonated, bouncing off celestial bodies. Every entity, living and divine, fell silent, listening to the ethereal melody. The Song touched Gargon, penetrating his defenses, causing unbearable pain. With a high-pitched scream, Gargon disappeared into the Other Realm, the balance restored once again.
Exhausted but victorious, Astra returned to her people. They celebrated their victory and the power of 'The Ancient Song', but the war had left Astra weary. She knew Gargon's return was inevitable. However, until then, there was peace again, there was harmony again, and the Ancient Song echoed every night under the calm sky, connecting realms and whispering tales of a brave Priestess to the universe.
In her final days, Astra passed on 'The Ancient Song' to her successor, reminding her of its power and the responsibility it held. The Last Song of the Earth continued to echo, maintaining balance, traveling through realms, writing tales of courage, peace, and most importantly, the indomitable spirit of the Merikans. Every note was a testament to the fact that true strength resides not in destruction, but in harmony.
