The Last Light Within

Once upon a time in an ancient land of mythical creatures, there existed a city of darkness called 'Shadowsdeep'. The city was perpetually engulfed in darkness - sunlight never made its way through. Shadowsdeep, however, had its own source of light. It was a mystic orb, a peculiar radiant object known as 'The Last Light Within'. It had the power to glow with an enchanting silver intensity, illuminating the entire realm of Shadowsdeep. The orb was safeguarded by the city’s ruler, King Moros, a stately personage with a countenance as dark as his kingdom, but a heart that swore to protect it at all costs.
The 'Last Light Within' was not just the city’s light source; it was the life essence for every being within Shadowsdeep. The populace was sustained by the light of the precious orb. However, an age-old prophecy spoke of a dreadful future. It was predicted that when Shadowsdeep's existence was threatened, the orb would lose its light and wish to return to the sun.
One ominous day, a wicked sorcerer, Varlok from a distant land, learned about 'The Last Light Within'. Envious of its power, he decided to possess it. With an army of darkness, Varlok attacked Shadowsdeep with a fatal fury. King Moros led his warriors into the intense battle; their silver-arced weapons clashed with the dark force. The city echoed with the eerie sounds of battle, its majestic architectures partly eclipsed by the dark smoke of war.
Varlok, using shadow magic, reached the castle's treasury where the orb was kept. As he touched the orb, it started dimming, its light flickering in protest. Consumed by greed, Varlok did not realize that the orb was connected to all inhabitants of Shadowsdeep - as the orb darkened, so did the city and its people edged towards a slow death.
Meanwhile, King Moros, realizing the deteriorating state of his people and the fading light of his land noticed the orb's connection to its residents. King Moros deduced that Varlok was at the castle. Leaving the battlefield, he made his way towards his castle. Entering the treasury, the two engaged in a fierce battle.
The sorcerer was strong, but King Moros was fueled by his desire to save his kingdom and its people. He soon overpowered Varlok and expelled him from Shadowsdeep forever using powerful sealing magic.
With Varlok gone, King Moros moved towards the orb. It had dimmed significantly and was losing its light rapidly. Recalling the prophecy, the King realised that the ‘Last Light Within’ wanted to return to the sun, its natural home. In agony, he requested the orb to stay, his city needed its light to survive. The orb, listening to the King’s plea, whispered a secret, 'To retain the light, one must offer his being to the darkness.’
Understanding the depth of the secret, King Moros didn't hesitate. He knew what he had to do. He sacrificed himself, merging with the orb, accepting the darkness and leaving his physical body behind. As he melted into the orb, an intense silver light filled the treasury. The orb was once again glowing just like the city and its people.
King Moros, through his noble sacrifice, had saved his kingdom. Shadowsdeep continued to flourish and its people prospered. But now, each corner of the city held a legend, the tale of their brave King Moros, and his sacrifice. The Last Light Within continued to glow, holding within it, their King, their protector, reminding them always of the cost of their survival, their victory. And ever since, they protected the orb as ‘The Light of Moros', a beacon of their royal lineage.
