The Last Light of Terath

In a land far removed from human touch, a planet known as Terath existed, bathed in perpetual twilight. The planet was inhabited by beings of light known as the Luminescents. It was a tranquil world, away from any conflicts of the universe. The existence of the Luminescents draped in tranquility could be perturbed only by the Darklings, creatures born from the core of the planet that thrived in the shadows.
The Luminescents were led by a wise and venerable one known as Eryndor. He was most ancient and carried a radiant aura of calming blue. He had foreseen the rise of the Darklings and had prepared his kind to withstand the tide that was soon to wash over them.
Darklings, led by their ruthless leader Nizara, rose from the heart of Terath one fateful day, determined to extinguish the last extravagant specks of light and embrace whole Terath in unending shadow.
Nizara was a towering figure, adorned in sinister black, his eyes radiated malevolent crimson. His heart nurtured an ancient grudge against the Luminescents because their light kept his kind imprisoned in the planet's core.
Nizara's forces assaulted the serene habitats of the Luminescents. Eryndor, sensing the imminent onslaught, rallied his kind to put up a shield of purest light. It held, but trembled from the Carnage Drake's ferocity. The days fell into turmoil as the Darklings relentlessly tormented the Luminescents.
Despite their courage, Light beings fell one by one under the Darklings' relentless wrath. But Eryndor held steadfast, for he carried the hope of his people. Touched by his bravery, a rekindled spirit spread among the Luminescents, and they sparked brighter than ever.
Eryndor, drawing power from his people's faith, decided to confront Nizara in a final showdown. So, as the dying light of a day looked over Terath, Eryndor, a figure of azure radiance against the twilight, stood before the imposing silhouette of Nizara.
The titanic clash was of such magnitude that the very fabric of space seemed to tremble. But as the battle raged on, Eryndor’s strength began to wane. He had been drawing upon the collective power of his people and the assault was beginning to tarnish his glowing light.
Just as it seemed the luminescence was about to dim, Eryndor heard the unified voices of every Luminescent left on Terath, a symphony of light striving to combat the darkness. Inferred by their unity and determination, he mustered the last of his power, directing it into a single beam of blazing light and struck Nizara.
Nizara convulsed as the pure light seared his being, and with a final defiant roar, he exploded in a nebulous burst of light and shadow. His demise marked the end of the Darklings' reign, and the surviving Darklings receded back, plunging into the core of Terath.
The battle had left the Luminescents near extinction, and Eryndor, who was at his weakest, his radiance just a flicker now. But their spirit was unconquerable. They had risen together, chanting hymn of light, their radiance combated the twilight. Their will to survive and preserve their world had led them to victory. Eryndor, seeing his people rejuvenated, embraced his end, his last light flickering out as he journeyed into the celestial beyond.
After the great war, the Luminescents, diminished but still radiant, would recall the bravery of Eryndor and his sacrifice in times of desolation. His tale became the beacon of unbending spirit, kept alive for generations, illuminating the heart of every Luminescent.
It is said that on the clearest of nights, one may see Terath, a tiny, distant star surging with radiant light. It serves as a reminder of the spirit carried by beings of light who lived, fought, and shined brilliantly against the slow encroach of shadow, preserving their world against darkness.
