The Last Great Wizard

Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Serendip, nestled within the blue-lit valleys of the High Elora Mountains, lived the last great wizard of the realm - wise, reticent, and immensely powerful, known to all as Eldarn.
Eldarn lived secluded in a grand and ancient tower filled with ancient scrolls and arcane curiosities. Rumbling spells echoed through his domicile, the shadows cast by his multitude of wandering candles dancing erratically across the parchment-laden walls in his study. As gifted as he was lonely, Eldarn used his sorcery mainly to further his intricate research into magic's essence, rarely bothering about the mundane happenings of the kingdom.
However, unbeknownst to Eldarn, a malevolent force, the Dark Sorceress Maladia, was on the rise. Her power, derived from the forbidden Magicks of Necrosis, allowed her to command armies of the undead. With a desire to rule Serendip, she led her forces towards the unprotected kingdom.
News of the advancing armies reached Serendip. Yet the king and his knights knew they were gravely outmatched. Realizing that their only hope lay in the reluctant wizard, they beseeched Eldarn for assistance. After hearing about the looming threat, the wizard agreed to stand in defense of the kingdom. The isolation was lifted from his tower as the kingdom mustered its defenses, and Eldarn prepared to face Maladia.
Within the grounds of the necrotic army's camp, Maladia, draped in flowing dark robes, stood imperious and confident. She did not anticipate much resistance from the kingdom of Serendip. Little did she know, the last great wizard opposed her.
By the time the army reached the outskirts of Serendip, Eldarn stood awaiting them. The sky darkened ominously, and a crackle of raw magic filled the air. Eldarn raised his staff, ethereal energies spiraling around him. Bellowing the incantations to the most potent spells known to wizards, he summoned forth a cataclysm of arcane power.
He cast a spell that illuminated the dark afternoon skies, a combination of destructive and incapacitating incantations that dismantled Maladia's undead forces. By the hour's end, Eldarn had single-handedly thwarted the Necrotic Armies, their skeletal remains littering the scorched battlefield.
Smoldering with rage, Maladia took to the field herself. What ensued was a spectacular duel between Maladia's necrosis magic and Eldarn's arcane art. The sky ruptured with vibrant colors from their spells, causing pockets of darkness and light to appear and disappear. Maladia, though cunning and powerful, found herself outmatched by Eldarn's spellcraft. Wielding the final strokes of his incantatory prowess, Eldarn defeated Maladia, binding her in an eternal stasis, her powers suppressed indefinitely.
As the dust settled, the kingdom of Serendip sang Eldarn's praises. The once secluded wizard had become the kingdom's savior. Yet Eldarn sought no accolades or medals. As soon as peace was restored, he returned to the obscurity of the ancient tower, where his heart truly resided, in the world of magical scrolls and magical curiosity.
From that day forward, stories of the Last Great Wizard echoed through Serendip's hills and valleys, a legend of a silent guardian whose strength and knowledge defended an entire kingdom when it needed him the most. Eldarn's tale remains an enchanting addition to the grand narrative of Serendip's history, a narrative of hope and unassuming valor in the face of oblivion.
