The Last Dragonhealer
In the land of Tremoria, mortals and dragons lived in harmony. The most skilled of the Tremorians were the Dragonhealers, gifted beings that could cure the winged beasts of any ailment. However, time was unkind to them, and one by one they disappeared, leaving behind Juna, the last Dragonhealer.
Juna, the young, stubborn last of the dragonhealers, lived in a cave at the edge of the Great Forest. Every morning, she'd trek into the woods, looking for herbs, roots and magical flowers for her potions. Each potion, a mixture of ingredients and her intrinsic magic, could heal a dragon from even the deadliest disease.
One day, a desperate knock echoed at her cave's entrance. Outside, lay a dragon whelp, Aragon, weak and trembling, his scales losing their radiant sheen to an ominous gray. His rider, King Kalden, pleaded for Juna's aid. His kingdom had been cursed, and Aragon was the final victim.
Juna witnessed the whelp's agony and deep within her, a sense of urgency stirred. She reassured Kalden she'd do her best, then hastily gathered her herbs, beginning her work on the cure.
Days turned into nights as Juna tended to Aragon. She brewed countless potions, whispered ancient chants, and expended energy she didn’t know she had. But Aragon’s condition steadily deteriorated. His once vibrant green eyes became clouded and his mighty wings were too weak to lift. Unfazed by the failing efforts, Juna soldiered on. She loved dragons, and she would not allow Aragon to suffer.
One night, when Aragon's pain was too great to bear, Juna could see the surrender in his eyes. In that moment of silent misery, Juna felt a surge of determination. She browsed through dusty ancient books her ancestors left behind till dawn. She discovered forgotten potions, ancient spells, legends of dragon’s tears becoming potent components in unbreakable spells.
Therefore, Aragon's single tear became the final ingredient of her potion. Juna chanted incantations, her solemn words echoing through the cavern. The mixture hissed, bubbled, and then silenced, becoming a glowing essence. Juna could sense the powerful magic within and knew this was the cure for Aragon.
By dawn, she gently helped Aragon drink the potion. The dragon shivered, let out a deep rumble and then, for the first time in days, Aragon slept without a whimper. Juna, tired but hopeful, finally allowed herself to rest.
When she woke, the sight that greeted her was nothing short of miraculous. Aragon was on his feet, his scales shone in their full emerald glory, and his eyes were clear and sparkling. The hum of strength was palpable in his mighty roar. It was unbelievable, almost magical.
Euphoria washed over Juna as she watched Aragon fly above the Great Forest, his growls echoing in the air, a symbol of victory against the curse. Kaldan, grateful and humbled, invited her to be his royal Dragonhealer, but Juna declined the offer.
Her fight against the curse strengthened her resolve to empower future Dragonhealers. Therefore, Juna used the infamous cure to build a Dragonhealer academy to pass on the knowledge to Teromia's young, ensuring the tranquility of dragons and humans for generations to come. Her tale, just like her potion, passed down the ages as a testament to her determination, love, and miraculous victory over the looming curse. She was, and will always be, remembered as the last Dragonhealer who saved them all.
