The Last Day of Atlantis

A land of marvellous beauty and awe_striking science, that's what Atlantis was esteemed as. A city with advanced scientific progress and powerful artefacts that rivalled even today's technology. But this tale is not about their splendid days. It is rather an account of their last day - the day when unforeseen powers emerged, leading Atlantis to its fate.
The sun moved lazily on the blue velvet-like sky, seemingly unaware of the turmoil beneath it. In Atlantis, chaos reigned. Screams echoed from the city's marble structures, bouncing off the high walls of the royal palace and the numerous scientific labs that dotted the cityscape. Guards in shimmering armour ran back and forth, trying in vain to Save the city. But it was to no avail. The final day of Atlantis had dawned upon them unannounced.
Despite the bedlam, an air of determination lingered in the royal throne room. King Orpheus, draped in royal blue, stood firm staring at the large ornate map spread out in front of him. His dark eyes brimmed with anxiety. He was no stranger to wars, but what he saw was beyond comprehension, an apocalypse perhaps.
Orpheus was suddenly startled by the arrival of his queen, Amara. She was a vision in her royal attire, with fear evident in her eyes. She held her husband's hand tightly, voicing the unspeakable terror. 'We must save our people, Orpheus,' she demanded, to which the king merely dipped his head in solemn agreement.
In the heart of Atlantis, stood the Core - a magnificent and potent artefact that was the source of their power. The Core started faltering, causing widespread unease. The royal couple, accompanied by their trusted advisor and scientist, Eudorus, ventured to check on it. The Core glowed with an eerie intensity, symbolizing it was nearing its end. Eudorus suggested the only way to save Atlantis was to merge their royal artefact, the Orb of Atlantis with the Core.
The royalty agreed upon the plan. It was a dangerous task, fraught with the risk of unknown repercussions. But they had no choice. Amara, chosen due to her powerful affinity with the Orb, stepped forward. Every heart pounded in silence as she delicately placed the Orb against the Core. The room pulsated with the power surge.
Suddenly, an intense light filled the room, growing brighter and brighter. Amara radiated with an ethereal glow, as the Orb and the Core started to merge. A shockwave of energy spread throughout the city, causing people to shield their eyes. Then as quickly as it appeared, the light faded, the energy receded, and silence once again ruled the land.
But, to their horror, the city of Atlantis began to tremble. Buildings shook, the ground ripped apart and the beautiful sienna skies turned a deadly red. Rumblings echoed from beneath, as the vast ocean surrounding Atlantis began to surge. The Core had not stabilized; instead, it had collapsed inward due to the energy overload. Atlantis was not saved; it was doomed.
A tsunami of monstrous proportions was unleashed upon the city, ready to wipe their civilization off the map in a single sweep. People ran amok, but none could fight the overwhelming might of the ocean. Orpheus and Amara, hand in hand, watched as their glorious city was doomed to the sea's depths, disappearing into the abyss. The beautiful Atlantis, with years of history and knowledge, was lost forever.
In the end, only the legend of Atlantis remained. The city's grandeur, its advanced technology, and its tragic end turned into tales told from generation to generation. Today, we recall Atlantis as a city of legend, a utopia that was undone by its own creations. The memory of King Orpheus, Queen Amara, and the fateful Core weave a narrative of a civilization lost in time, a cautionary tale for all who dare to tamper with forces beyond their comprehension.
