The Humble Hero of Newtbell

Once upon a time, a king named Derik resided over the kingdom of Newtbell. His broad shoulders stretched with the wisdom of age while his eyes twinkled with the joy of a life well lived. However, lately, his eyes betrayed a hint of worry that stemmed from the empty treasury of his once prosperous kingdom. The title of being the 'motherland of gold and silver' that Newtbell proudly held, was fading.
The reason wasn’t a lack of resources; the kingdom was brimming with untapped treasures. Instead, it was the dark sorcerer, Morvin, residing in the Blackmount range, protected by ferocious dragon Demogorg. For years, Morvin had cast a spell over the mines, preventing the extraction of gold and silver. Only when Morvin was defeated could the kingdom restore its former glory.
King Derik knew defeating Morvin was no child's play. Many brave knights and cunning sorcerers had fallen under Morvins' wrath. However, the king held onto an ancient prophecy which told of a hero possessing courage, wisdom, and humbleness. Only that hero could wield the Firebrand sword, a divine weapon that could defeat Morvin.
Word spread across the kingdom, appealing to knights, peasants, and anonymous heroes alike to try their hand at wielding the Firebrand. As days turned into weeks, dozens of strong and wise men tried to lift the sword, but none succeeded. The kingdom’s hope started dwindling, and Derik grew desperate.
On a freezing Sunday, an ordinary peasant, Tholan, came forward. Tholan wasn’t the most muscular or the most learned amongst the lot, but he was humble. Despite facing mockery from the crowd, he approached the sword silently. With a calm demeanor, he touched the hilt of the Firebrand. Suddenly, the sword burned brightly, recognizing its master.
Seeing the radiant glow of the sword, King Derik instantly recognized Tholan as the chosen one. Under his guidance, Tholan trained with the Firebrand, honing his swordsmanship and learning to control the flaming power of the legendary weapon.
When the day came for Tholan to face Morvin, anxiety blanketed the kingdom. Yet, amidst this chaos, Tholan was calm, grounded in his humility and bravery. He ventured into the perilously dark Blackmount range, right into the dragon Demogorg’s nest. After a fierce battle, Tholan slew Demogorg using the Firebrand's furious flames. Tired but fierce, he marched to the dark sorcerer’s den.
Morvin, to his surprise, saw an ordinary peasant coming toward him, the sword twinkling with divine fire. Underestimating Tholan, Morvin attacked impulsively. But Tholan, with his quiet determination, skillfully parried and counterattacked, catching Morvin by surprise. Morvin realized this was no ordinary opponent but the prophesized hero capable of bringing him down.
They both clashed in a fierce duel, but Tholan’s patience, humility, and courage eventually won him the duel. He subdued Morvin and used Firebrand to extinguish the dark spell over the mines.
Upon Tholan’s return, he was hailed as a hero. King Derik rewarded him with riches and offered him any wish he desired. However, Tholan, in all his humbleness, simply asked for the well-being of his fellow peasants. Touched by his selfless request, King Derik granted better living conditions, equality, and availability of resources for all peasants.
Under Tholan’s heroics and King Derik's leadership, Newtbell flourished and regained its title, becoming an epitome of prosperity and equality. The story of the humble hero, Tholan, became a tale of inspiration, proving that the most significant strength one can have is humility.
