The Hidden Kingdom of Illis
In the early 17th century, nestled among the towering snow-laden mountains of the east was a kingdom unknown to the outside world—The Kingdom of Illis. Unperturbed by the world's chaos, it was a place of mystics, warriors, and extraordinary creatures.
The Kingdom was glittering with enormous treasures, exquisite jewels encrusted on ivory walls of the palace, stunningly opulent ornaments that the commoners wore; richness was widespread. Legend had it that a profound magic enveloped Illis, preserving its richness and keeping its inhabitants happy, healthy, and invulnerable.
The magic was the force of the Mystic Stone—a stone with unparalleled powers that could bring prosperity or destruction. Its magic aligned with the heart of the beholder. With noble intents, it bestowed blessings; however, selfish intentions would yield devastation. Only the righteous by heart—the Kings of Illis, were permitted to wield its power.
King Traron, the current ruler was benevolent and wise. But he had a fear that gnawed at his heart. His only child, Prince Trion was an egotist, unlike his ancestors. This made the King worry about the future of Illis.
One fateful day, King Traron fell gravely ill. The prince, blinded by his ambition, perceived this as his opportunity to seize the throne and the magic of the Mystic Stone. Ignorant of the stone's true nature, he attempted to will its power for his selfish purposes.
The Mystic Stone, recognizing the greed in the Prince’s heart, caused a cataclysmic reaction, resulting in a tremor shaking the entire kingdom. Compelled by a strange force, the stone drifted away from the kingdom, leaving the land deserted and impoverished.
Prince Trion, terrified by the unforeseen consequences of his actions, instantly regretted his selfish pursuit. Desperate to rectify his wrongs, he set on a perilous journey to regain the stone and restore prosperity.
His journey was harsh and full of challenges. He ventured through haunting forests, rocky terrains, and crossed deadly beasts. Along this journey, Trion started realizing the havoc his greed had caused. His mettle, patience, and humility were tested at every step, and slowly he was becoming a different person.
After the arduous journey, he reached a cave where the Mystic Stone resided. Guarding the stone stood a tremendous dragon—Seraphix, who was also the Mystic Stone's test. He challenged Trion, 'To attain me, you must prove the purity of your heart and answer truthfully - Why do you seek the Mystic Stone?'
Trion, with honesty in his voice, replied, 'I seek it not for power, but for forgiveness. To mend the havoc my arrogance caused, bring prosperity back to my people, and uphold my father’s legacy.'
Impressed by Trion's honest resolve, the dragon bestowed upon him the Mystic Stone. Trion returned to the kingdom, heart heavy with guilt, yet hopeful. The kingdom had suffered in his absence. His dying father, upon his return, managed a frail smile, filled with love and hope.
Trion gently touched the stone whispering silent prayers, his guilt and determination radiating out. The Stone, sensing his genuine intentions, glowed intensely and gradually the lands rejuvenated, the walls sparkled with jewels, and joy erupted amongst the people.
King Traron, with his last breath, declared Trion as the King. Trion, having learned humility and compassion, devoted himself to the service of his people, ruling with fairness and grace. His reign saw growth, prosperity, and happiness.
Ever since Illis has been flourishing, reminding everyone of its history. A story of a selfish Prince turning into a just King. The tale of Trion is told to each generation, emphasizing the power of honesty, humility, and compassion and alerting them of the grave consequences of unchecked ambitions and greed.
